Team / Function Overview

The members of the Program Management Office (PMO) work together as a team to ensure that Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO) is using the right tools, approaches, and metrics to manage business enhancements and SIO funded projects. Types of efforts that this position may be involved with include new product development, process redesign, internal controls improvements, system vendor selection/implementation, and system development. It will also include complex and non-traditional securities products that involve non-standard trade processing, clearance, and documentation (e.g. Derivatives).

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

This is a highly visible position. The successful candidate will be asked to:

• Ensure the successful execution of multiple projects that will involve a broad variety of complex investment issues, utilizing their investment experience while working in a fast-paced environment to drive business outcomes.
• Lead business and IT staff to identify and document project requirements, business process improvements and best practices, with the ability to apply the appropriate knowledge and techniques necessary to draw out requirements completely and accurately from stakeholders.
• Ability to structure and drive working and informational sessions that promote collaboration, achieve synergy, and achieve desired outcomes within time allotted.
• Provide clear and detailed project plans, status reports and other applicable project management documentation to all levels of the project.
• Help to identify, document, and resolve risks and conflicts within and across projects, as well as adjusting priorities as necessary.
• Ensure that sponsors, stakeholders, and project teams are kept apprised of progress, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Continually expand knowledge of the Investment Management industry, including, business processes, technology, and trends.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Program Management Office (PMO) supports all manner of projects that are planned and executed by Hartford Investment Management. PMO members directly manage the largest and most complex of the projects within Hartford Investment Management and provide oversight and support to leaders of all other projects in the organization. The PMO seeks a Project Manager with strong business analysis skills to help the organization execute project initiatives. This position will have contact with the senior members of the organization, so exceptional communication ability and presentation skills are critical.

• Existing experience in an investment environment and a desire to continue to learn the business is required.

  • Practiced understanding of project management principles by organizing and directing a series of projects.

  • Ability to identify and clearly communicate business problems to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate and develop solutions that assist stakeholders in understanding and resolving project issues.
• 5+ years professional experience with at least 3 years project management or relevant experience.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college is required.

Role will be filled either at the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager level, commensurate with experience.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and remote on Mondays and Fridays.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
