We are looking for a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer (Industrial Automation) to join our Projects Engineering team in Pune, India. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and offers opportunities to work independently as well as within global project teams delivering automation solutions across process industries.
The role involves engineering, testing, commissioning, and support of Distributed Control Systems (DCS)for customer projects worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Support project planning activities together with the Project Manager, including scheduling, risk assessment, resource planning, and execution strategy.
- Understand customer requirements, technical specifications, and project scope.
- Participate in kick-off meetings and interface with customers, sales teams, and other engineering disciplines.
Engineering & Development
- Develop and configure:
- DCS applications
- HMI applications
- Alarm management and control strategies
- Prepare engineering documentation, functional design specifications, I/O lists, test procedures.
- Coordinate with hardware, software, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support change management and project progress reporting.
Testing & Validation
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Internal Testing, and Customer FAT.
- Participate in system validation and troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure engineering quality and compliance with project requirements.
Site Commissioning & Start-up
- Perform installation support, commissioning, loop checks, startup activities, and performance testing at customer sites.
- Troubleshoot control system issues and implement modifications when required.
- Ensure safe work practices during site activities.
- Support customer training and system handover.
Customer & Service Support
- Work closely with customers to ensure successful implementation and satisfaction.
- Participate in project-to-service handover activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in industrial automation, control systems engineering, or project execution.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- DCS: ABB 800xA, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa Centum, Siemens PCS7, Valmet DNA, Foxboro, etc.
- PLC: Siemens, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, GE, Omron, Beckhoff, etc.
- Experience in logic development, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC, IEC 61850, or similar.
- Good understanding of control philosophies, process automation, and instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)

- Oil & Gas
- Chemicals / Process Industries
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, virtualization, or industrial networking is an advantage.
