About us
Copia Automation provides best-in-class disaster and recovery technology for industrial automation.
Our product brings modern developer tools to the OT space through our novel Git-based source control for automation professionals, with multiple delivery methods including self-hosted and fully hosted options. We are a well-funded startup with a growing list of happy customers throughout the industrial space.
As a Copia employee, you’ll solve challenging, unique, and meaningful problems alongside passionate coworkers, while we change the way everything gets built.
About the Role
- Working with the Head of Product, you'll develop actionable hypotheses that guide our product initiatives, contributing to product roadmaps and strategy.
- In partnership with engineering, you’ll prioritize and manage the project backlog in alignment with the product roadmap.
You’ll work closely with engineering to define requirements and create specifications for new projects or features. - You will manage customer feedback channels and market research activities, using data to validate or adjust product iterations.
- You will work cross-functionally with marketing, success, and engineering for product launch planning.
- Own the Source Control roadmap: Define and prioritize improvements across branching, diffing, code review, version history, and integrations with the PLC IDEs and automation platforms our customers use every day.
- Lead Copia Actions from 0→1: Define the MVP, identify the right use cases (e.g., automated testing of PLC code, deployment pipelines, governance and compliance checks), and bring the product through alpha, beta, and GA.
- Be the voice of the automation engineer: Understand how controls engineers, PLC programmers, and OT teams ship code today, and where the workflow breaks down.
- Drive cross-functional impact: Partner with other product teams (Platform, DeviceLink, Copilot) so Source Control and Actions fit cleanly into the rest of Copia.
- Customer & stakeholder engagement: Act as both internal product expert and external face of the product, working directly with customers, solution engineers, partners, and leadership.
- Metrics & outcomes: Establish KPIs for Source Control engagement (commits, PRs, reviews) and Copia Actions adoption (workflows created, runs); measure impact on retention and customer satisfaction.
About You
- You have 5-7 years of hands-on product management experience, with at least 2 years focused on developer tools, source control, CI/CD, or developer productivity products. Ideally, you have experience in fast-paced product organizations or high-growth startups.
- You thrive in a startup environment and are resourceful, adaptable, and execution-driven.
- You have taken at least one product or major feature from 0→1 and seen it through to GA.
- You create clarity out of ambiguity.
- You're an excellent communicator, skilled at aligning various stakeholders around immediate objectives and deliverables.
- Your low ego makes you receptive to feedback and agile in adjusting plans.
- You have strong technical acumen—you can engage deeply with engineering on Git internals, CI/CD systems, and developer tooling tradeoffs.
- You’ve worked closely with engineers as your end users.
- You’ve proven your ability to translate technical capabilities into customer and business value.
Bonus Points
- Background in industrial automation, manufacturing systems, or OT/IT convergence.
- Experience as a PM (or close partner to PMs) on a developer tool such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Atlassian, Linear, or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD or workflow automation products (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo, etc.).
- Familiarity with Git workflows, code review practices, and DevOps culture.
What We Do
Copia is redefining how the world’s factories, energy systems, and infrastructure are built and maintained. Our Industrial Code Lifecycle Management Platform connects software engineering practices with operational technology, giving manufacturers resiliency with the visibility, control, and confidence they need to innovate safely. We’re engineers, builders, and problem-solvers driven by one mission: Keep industry moving forward. Copia is building the modern engineering platform for industrial automation. Industrial organizations operate critical infrastructure on PLCs, SCADA, and OT networks. These environments power manufacturing, energy, food production, and infrastructure worldwide. Most of them still rely on fragmented tooling and manual workflows that would not be tolerated in any modern software environment. Copia closes that gap. We bring the discipline of modern software engineering to operational technology teams, giving controls engineers and IT security teams the version control, change management, and operational resilience their environments demand. Two concepts define what we do: Industrial Code Lifecycle Management (ICLM) applies structured lifecycle practices to automation code and configuration management. Think DevOps for the plant floor. It enables industrial teams to manage PLC logic, configurations, and automation assets with version control, traceability, and controlled deployment processes. No more tribal knowledge. No more manual backups on USB drives. No more mystery around what changed, when, and who made the call. Operational Technology Disaster Recovery (OTDR) ensures automation systems can be rapidly restored after failures, cyber incidents, or operational disruptions. It covers backup validation, system restoration procedures, and resilience planning for industrial control systems. When ransomware hits or equipment fails, production gets back online in hours, not weeks. Together, ICLM and OTDR form the foundation for secure, resilient industrial automation environments. Copia is the platform that makes both operationally real.
