GEICO is looking for an accomplished, customer obsessed, and results oriented Senior Product Manager to join GEICO's Sales Product Management team as we reimagine the insurance shopping experience.
We are looking for candidates who have strong product management experience with deep technical understanding, customer empathy, strong execution capability, and a track record of building strong business partnerships and delivering impactful business results.
This position is preferably a hybrid role, however, exceptional remote candidates will be considered.
Hybrid locations include: Washington, DC, Fredericksburg, VA, San Jose/San Francisco, CA, & Seattle, WA
In this position, you will be a single-threaded owner who works with Technology, Design, and Business teams to operate and reimagine GEICO’s platform & API technology products to support Sales. You will support cross-functional teams focused on improving the customer experience, driving new and existing channel growth, modernizing our sales, rating & underwriting stacks, and leapfrogging the competition to grow market share.
The ideal applicant thrives at working in highly-matrixed environments, managing high-impact acquisition initiatives, defining modern technical visions & strategies, and leading teams that build innovative internal/external APIs, microservices, partner integrations, and other scalable solutions that support multiple lines of business and channels. The ideal candidate also has experience doing this in financial services and/or insurance industries.
If selected, you would be responsible for working with technology and business on the technical design & requirements, describing and managing the solution of a specific product or initiative, while also coordinating/communicating between different workstreams. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to do the work, while also influencing organizational change through proper scoping, process improvement, and positive team dynamics.
The ideal candidate is excellent at:
- Capable of decomposing a big market opportunity and technology vision into bite-size milestones focused on delivering iterative value. Artifacts include Vision, Strategy, Roadmap, GTM plans, and ability to de-compose into Epics & Features
- Willingness to dive into the details, write requirements and lead cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions and business results through APIs, services, partner integrations and other modern architectural solutions
- Strong bias for action, partnership, and influence ability. This includes driving prioritization and feature requirement to capabilities teams as well as driving trade-off discussions and decision-making with technical experts and business stakeholders
- Synthesizing business, market, and platform data to identify opportunities, size them, and turn insights into requirements
- Creating and using compelling, informative artifacts to influence stakeholders and communicate progress to stakeholders (ex. Vision, Roadmaps, Features/Epics, Progress Updates, etc.)
- Coaching and mentoring Product Managers
- Knowledge in Underwriting, Rating, and Insurance Product Offerings (i.e., Modeling, Telematics, Product Definition) is a plus
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management
- 5+ years of experience translating features into consumer or associate facing products
- 5+ years managing all aspects of a product feature throughout its lifecycle from concept to delivery
- 5+ years leading cross-functional teams that drive results during product discovery and product delivery.
- High sense of accountability and strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Underwriting, Rating, and Insurance Product Offerings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to influence across the organization
- Insurance industry experience preferred
- Agile certifications preferred (i.e., SAFe, Scrum Alliance, Scrum.Org, ICAgile, PMI-ACP)
Annual Salary
$143,000.00 - $224,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
