The Opportunity
Everyday Health Group is looking for a Senior Product Designer who thinks in systems, not screens.
This role supports design across Everyday Health Group's portfolio of consumer brands. You'll be working across distinct audiences and business models under one roof, from health and wellness content to lifestyle and subscription products, with the mix of brands and depth of involvement shifting over time. That range is part of the job.
AI has changed what this job is. Wireframes, first-draft flows, and visual options that used to take days now take minutes. That's not a threat to this role, it's the reason this role exists. We need designers who use AI to clear the production work off their plate so they can spend their time on the part AI can't do: framing the right problem, making the hard call between two defensible options, and understanding why a user actually behaves the way they do.
This isn't just a shipping role. We want someone who brings a point of view on where a brand or product should go next, not just how to execute what's already been scoped.
If you're looking for a job where you produce assets on request, this isn't it. If you want a job where your judgment is the product, keep reading.
Key Responsibilities
Own design across Everyday Health Group's portfolio of consumer brands, with varying depth across brands, from problem framing through shipped experience
Explore multiple directions for a problem before committing, including options outside the current roadmap or sprint, and bring a point of view on where a brand or product should go next
Use AI tools to generate options and prototype fast, then apply editorial judgment to decide what actually ships
Use AI tools to analyze user testing sessions and surface patterns, applying judgment to determine what the findings actually mean for the design
Use AI tools to accelerate early-stage research (requirements gathering, competitive analysis, stakeholder feedback synthesis), then apply judgment to decide what's worth acting on
Design solutions that hold up across devices and breakpoints, with a mobile-first mindset
Translate business goals ("improve retention," "reduce drop-off") into specific, testable design questions
Partner directly with Product, Engineering, Editorial, Analytics, and Sales/Ad Ops to frame problems before jumping to solutions
Think in systems: understand how a change to one flow ripples across the rest of the product, including edge cases and downstream platforms
Present design rationale to stakeholders at every level, from engineers to senior leadership, in language each audience actually finds useful
Advocate for the user in rooms where the user isn't represented, including flagging when a feature's promise and its actual impact don't line up
Contribute to and help evolve our design systems, keeping consistency without slowing down iteration
Maintain and extend design systems directly, including working in shared variables and tokens so updates propagate cleanly across brands
Give and receive direct design critique as part of a small, senior team, no hand-holding required
Job Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a product designer working on digital consumer platforms (web, app, and newsletters)
A portfolio that shows your thinking, not just your output. We want to see the messy problem you started with and the reasoning that got you to the final design, not just polished mocks
Fluency with AI design and research tools (Figma Make, Claude, prototyping copilots, research and user-testing synthesis tools, or equivalents) as a daily part of your workflow, not a novelty
Strong instincts for when to trust an AI-generated option and when to override it
Experience running user research and turning it into product decisions under real time pressure
Comfort with ambiguity. You don't wait for a fully-scoped brief to start asking the right questions
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with stakeholders who don't share your vocabulary
Experience working in an agile environment (Scrum or Kanban)
Strong proficiency in Figma, including working fluency with variables and tokens; you'll be maintaining and extending our design system directly, not just designing within it
Proficiency in Figma; familiarity with prototyping and motion tools a plus
Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience designing for a broad range of ages and ability levels
Nice to Have
Background in health, wellness, or another regulated or trust-sensitive consumer space
Experience designing across multiple brands or products with distinct audiences under one design system
Experience designing for both editorial and commerce/monetization surfaces
Experience mentoring junior or mid-level designers
How We'll Evaluate You
We're not going to ask you to produce a stack of comps for a take-home. Expect a portfolio review where you walk us through your thinking on 2-3 projects, a working session on an ambiguous problem, and a conversation with cross-functional partners you'd actually work with. We want to see how you'd approach a problem, what questions you'd ask before opening Figma, and how you'd use AI tools to move fast without outsourcing the thinking.
