Position Summary

The Pricing Specialist position supports the West Division of the Commercial organization and is primarily responsible for pricing, with analyzing and querying multiple data sources to consolidate enterprise data to inform the business and support effective pricing support for multiple geographies (for the ARCO and Licensed brands of Shell, and Exxon/Mobil) fueling stations. The Pricing Specialist role analyzes, monitors and adjusts to the competitive retail areas for our Retail Operations Team for markets in California, Arizona and Nevada.

This position works closely with internal business partners on the Retail Operations Team (which is comprised of Marketing Field Representatives and Managers, Logistics, Supply, Billing, Business Planning & Analytics, including internal IT personnel).  Seeking a team-oriented self-starter with strong analytical skills, highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and visualizations programs (among other analytical tools), to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executes daily pricing for multiple light products commodities, classes of trade, and geographies of enhanced complexity & value chain impact according to operational strategies.

  • Collaborates with key business partners to assist with developing and execute short- and long-term strategies to maximize value chain contribution.

  • Analyze patterns and competitive behavior within different geographic regions using data gathering systems.

  • Collaborates with Commercial Market teams to actively optimize sales vs. forecast.

    • Analyzes monthly performance versus forecast on volume and netbacks, within respective regions and brands (including licensed brands).

  • Monitors market trends.

    • Pricing Specialist: Reviews of daily retail street pricing surveys and monitoring competitive trends.

  • Assesses Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for pricing functions. Perform ad hoc analysis of high complexity and communicate insights to management/operational teams.

  • Efficiently utilizes Pricing systems with detailed understanding of functionality. Troubleshoots issues and collaborates with support partners to resolve promptly. Creates new tools, proposes process improvements, and identifies potential IT enhancements.

  • Assists in development, training and mentoring of P2 level team members.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in analytical, pricing, fuel marketing/sales, supply operations, or revenue/profitability management roles.

  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex formulas (e.g., XLOOKUP, IF, INDEX/MATCH), PivotTables, data cleaning and analysis, dashboard creation, automation (Power Query/macros), and the ability to clearly explain insights and spreadsheet logic to others
