About the Role:

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Pricing Actuary to join the pricing team located in London, reporting to the Chief Pricing Actuary. The role holder will support Everest Underwriting teams across all geographies (UK, Europe, Singapore, Australia and LATAM) within the International Division and therefore will need strong communication and collaboration skills to build strong Business Partnerships between Actuarial and Underwriting.

  • Pricing of complex contracts across multiple lines of business with a focus on Property and Energy.

  • Development and enhancement of technical pricing tools and regular updates of pricing assumptions.

  • Lead pricing reviews and provide constructive recommendations to senior management.

  • Participate in broker and client visits and renewal meetings.

  • Closely collaborate with Underwriters on technical assessment and exposure analysis for different classes of business.

  • Contribute to the development of streamlined and efficient pricing processes.

  • Explaining technical actuarial modelling results to underwriters and providing training.

  • Analysis of portfolios to highlight profitability and their drivers.

  • Mentor and develop junior colleagues within the larger team.

  • Peer review pricing of other actuarial team members.

  • Development and maintenance of actuarial models, systems and processes.

  • Keep abreast of industry initiatives and develop new pricing/visualization techniques and best practice.

  • Collaborate, present and share knowledge with the wider Actuarial team on pricing approaches.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the classes, trends and underwriting strategy.

  • Take an active role in Everests actuarial community by leading and contributing to Group projects.

  • Ensure data used for pricing and monitoring is complete, accurate, adequate and timely.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Actuary, preferably with experience of Non-Life Insurance and/or Reinsurance Pricing.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience in Property and Energy and knowledge of other lines of business including; Marine, Political Violence and Aviation is desirable.

  • Expertise in actuarial pricing concepts and methodologies including knowledge of third party CAT vendor models (eg Catapult, AIR).

  • Knowledge of Reserving processes.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with great attention to detail.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with peers, management and different business functions.

  • Proficient in Excel, Access, VBA, SQL (with either R or Python skills desirable) and an ability to create pricing tools to support day to day underwriting workflow.

  • Proactive team player who has an interest in the development of more junior staff.

  • Ability to check the work of others to a high standard and provide appropriate feedback and coaching.

  • Ability to work under own initiative and show flexibility to meet business needs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and regions through regular communication with colleagues in other locations.
