As a Senior Operations Research (OR) Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in designing an optimisation system that balances the supply/demand capacity of the logistics network. You will dive deep into large-scale geospatial and real-time data to design automated decision-making systems that operate in a dynamic, real-world environment.

You will develop high-performance robust optimisation models, utilising techniques like mixed-integer programming (MIP), constraint programming, stochastic programming, metaheuristics, etc. and launch them into production to control operational decisions at scale.

• Advanced proficiency in designing large-scale scheduling, rostering, or shift-planning optimisation systems (or similar), with extensive experience applying these techniques in production environments.
• Expertise in exact optimisation techniques, notably mixed-integer programming (MIP), decomposition, and capacity planning.
• Proficiency in applying (meta) heuristic methods to efficiently find high-quality solutions when exact methods hit scaling or performance limits.
• Extensive hands-on experience with optimisation modeling in Python using algebraic modeling languages or solver APIs (e.g., Pyomo, PuLP), as well as commercial and open-source solvers (like SCIP and Gurobi).
• High proficiency in Python object-oriented programming, producing clean, maintainable, and type-safe code.
• Proven experience in getting models to production, scaling, and maintaining them for long-term success.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including rigorous testing, CI/CD pipelines, git workflows, and code reviews.
• Experience working with Docker containers to support reproducible, scalable environments.
• Experience in the logistics and last-mile delivery domain is highly beneficial.

• You intuitively understand complex operational constraints, contracts, and geographic intricacies over discrete time intervals.
• Ability to guide and develop junior scientists and foster team collaboration.
• From running historical benchmarks to managing the full lifecycle of models in live production.
• Ability to generate new ideas, test hypotheses rigorously using trace data, and pitch business improvements.
• Challenging current approaches, assumptions, and business impact to refine strategies for optimal operational results.
• Preference for simple, scalable, and effective solutions, particularly in complex projects.
• Expertise in agile environments with strong collaborative skills, bridging the gap between Data Science, Engineering, and Business.
• Excellent communication skills, translating complex OR concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
