The Senior Operations Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Operations Engineering (Fab) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Operations Engineering (Fab) discipline. The Senior Operations Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Operations Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Operations Engineering (Fab) team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies and plans for project execution, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate and manage all aspects of EPCI projects, including engineering, procurement, construction, and installation activities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry codes, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining operational processes to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct thorough analyses of project data, performance metrics, and lessons learned to identify areas for improvement and develop innovative solutions
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address project challenges and ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring seamless integration of engineering, procurement, construction, and installation activities
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards associated with project activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring that all operations adhere to relevant HSE policies and procedures
  • Undertake regular site visits and inspections to assess compliance with safety protocols and drive a proactive approach to risk management
  • Liaise with the fabrication hook-up group on the projects that they are responsible for and provide them with the required marine support equipment and logistics assistance
  • Ensure conformance to Level 2 procedures for all the project-specific wire rope applications and rigging
  • Review pre-rigged sling tie-downs and protection arrangements prepared by field engineers
  • Responsible for compilation of project rigging certification 
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in a relevant field (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Petroleum Engineering)
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar capacity with proven experience in operations engineering within the EPCI industry
  • Sound knowledge of EPCI project lifecycle, engineering principles, and industry best practices
  • Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and oversee complex projects
  • Analytical mindset and ability to utilize data-driven insights for process improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong HSE mindset and commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma, Lean) would be advantageous

Skills Required
