About this opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer - IP Infrastructure to strengthen our team in Maastricht. In this role, you design and deliver high and low level IP network solutions for our customers. You work end to end-from design, lab testing, integration, and implementation to final acceptance. You will collaborate with a wide team of telecom and IT professionals and work with the latest hardware and technologies.
What you will do:
• Translate network designs into deployable configuration files• Set up and maintain lab environments (incl. router configuration)• Execute critical network activities in line with Change Management Processes• Analyze customer requirements and contribute to risk assessments• Support deployment and operations teams with technical solutions• Create and deliver technical presentations and proposals• Hold deep dive technical discussions with customers and advise on technology choices• Share knowledge through documentation and competence building initiatives• Stay up to date on new technologies and bring innovations into customer solutions• Perform network modelling, analysis, and capacity planning.
The skills you bring:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent• Cisco CCNP certification (minimum)• 5-10 years of relevant experience in IP networking and infrastructure engineering• Strong hands on experience in network design, implementation, and project delivery• Solid understanding of datacenter components and experience collaborating with infrastructure/application teams• Deep knowledge of:
o Core architectures: Metro Ethernet, MPLS, Unified MPLS, Segment Routing
o Cisco OS platforms: IOS, IOS XE, IOS XR
o Cisco hardware: ASR1k, ASR9k, Nexus (Nokia or Huawei experience is a plus)• Expert level skills in routing protocols (IS, OSPF, BGP v4/v6 for iBGP and eBGP)• Develop and maintain automated network configuration workflows using Python, Ansible, and API-driven provisioning (REST/NETCONF) using YANG/JSON/YAML service models.• Strong experience with VPN services (EVPN, Inter AS VPN, Carrier Ethernet)• Understanding of high availability features (NSF, graceful restart, BFD, link aggregation)• Experience in service provider virtualization (e.g., Cisco ACI)• Proficiency in Dutch is a significant asset, and business fluency in English is essential.
