Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Murex Developer, Accounting Subject Matter Expert to join our Global Murex Development team, which has a presence across London, Toronto, and Singapore.
The successful candidate will provide deep functional and technical expertise in the Murex Accounting module. This individual will assess the current Accounting configuration, identify opportunities for standardization and redesign, and deliver sustainable solutions aligned with business and technology requirements.
Over time, the successful candidate will establish themselves as a key point of contact for Murex Accounting, document the configuration, and transfer specialist knowledge to the wider team. The role will also contribute to broader Murex development, integration, testing, and platform-change activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Analyse business and technology requirements and translate them into effective Murex functional and technical solutions.
- Conduct a detailed review of the existing Murex Accounting configuration.
- Identify opportunities to standardize, simplify, and redesign Accounting configurations and processes.
- Design solutions that align with applicable technical standards and emphasize resilience, maintainability, and long-term supportability.
- Partner with Product Control and General Ledger technology teams to define and implement appropriate standards.
- Configure and enhance Murex Accounting functionality.
- Contribute to software development involving Murex and associated interfaces.
- Support Murex integration, migration, upgrade, and platform-change initiatives.
- Perform unit testing and prepare software releases for production deployment.
- Work with Business Analysts, Architects, Test Analysts, and technology representatives to design and validate solutions.
- Develop test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements.
- Troubleshoot configuration, workflow, data, batch, and environmental issues.
- Liaise with Murex as the platform vendor to validate the compatibility of proposed integration designs with the internal system configuration.
- Produce clear functional, configuration, and technical documentation.
- Lead knowledge-transfer activities and support the development of Murex capability within the wider team.
- Work within the agile delivery framework established for the project team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience delivering Murex solutions within banking, capital markets, or financial-services environments.
- Significant hands-on experience with the Murex Accounting module, including Accounting configuration, troubleshooting, and solution design.
- Demonstrated Murex development experience, including integration, migration, or upgrade delivery.
- Experience supporting an FX Cash business or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of financial products, derivatives, risk, and profit and loss concepts.
- Strong understanding of front-to-back trade processing and the Murex trade lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience working across the full software development life cycle.
- Strong UNIX and SQL skills, including scripting.
- Strong knowledge of core Murex modules and features, including system configuration, troubleshooting, and end-user support.
- Experience working with Product Control, General Ledger technology, Finance, or related stakeholders.
- Ability to assess an existing configuration, recommend improvements, and translate recommendations into maintainable solutions.
- Strong experience producing functional and technical documentation and transferring knowledge to other team members.
- University degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Finance, Accounting, or another relevant numerically focused discipline.
Murex Technical Knowledge
- Accounting: Deep specialist knowledge of the Murex Accounting module and its configuration.
- Workflows: Pre-trade and post-trade workflow development, including workflow design, transformations, interfaces, pre-trade sequences, XSLT, and MSL.
- Trade lifecycle: Thorough understanding of the Murex trade lifecycle and mxpress workflow phases, including contracts, events, and deliverables.
- End-of-day processing: Strong knowledge of batch analysis, optimization, and reporting.
- Data: Strong working knowledge of the Murex data model and experience constructing queries to investigate or manipulate data.
- Reporting: Experience with Murex FINDB and Datamart configuration.
- Technical architecture: Knowledge of performance-monitoring services, memory allocation, logging, and environmental troubleshooting.
- Broader platform knowledge: Familiarity with Datamart, pre-trade, post-trade, back-office functionality, and associated Murex interfaces.
