About the Role at RobCo
At RobCo, we develop AI-powered robotic systems that make industrial processes more autonomous, efficient, and scalable. Our Autonomous Manufacturing Platform combines modular industrial hardware with physical AI, enabling rapid deployment and continuous optimization in real production environments.
With locations in Munich, San Francisco, and Austin, and backed by leading investors such as Lightspeed, Lingotto Innovation, and Sequoia, we are working to redefine industrial automation.
At RobCo, we automate the ordinary, so humans can do the extraordinary. To achieve this, we are looking for an ambitious (Junior) Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) to help us establish RobCo as leading provider of automation solutions.
In this role, you will take full ownership of mechanical development for our modular industrial robots — from concept design through to validation — ensuring every product meets the highest standards of performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You’ll be at the forefront of developing robotics solutions that set new benchmarks for flexibility and scalability in automation.
Your Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design and development of modular robotic components and assemblies from initial concept through production readiness.
Create robust designs that balance functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Drive prototyping, assembly, and integration of mechanical systems.
Plan and conduct mechanical testing and validation to verify performance, durability, and safety.
Analyze test results, identify root causes of issues, and drive design improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Electrical, Software, Production) to ensure seamless system integration.
Prepare high-quality technical documentation for designs, specifications, and test reports.
We're looking for someone who has:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Several years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with hands-on expertise in both mechanical design and testing — ideally within robotics, automation, or precision engineering.
Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; Inventor, CATIA, or equivalent acceptable).
Proven track record in designing, building, and validating complex mechanical assemblies.
Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
Hands-on prototyping and assembly skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
Fluent English; German proficiency is a plus.
Why join RobCo?
Develop modular, software-defined robotics solutions with us that set new standards in automation.
Help us build robots equipped with state-of-the-art AI that perceive their environment, analyze data, and make intelligent decisions in real time.
As part of a very dynamic and fast-growing scale-up, you will take on responsibility from day one, drive your own projects, and see the direct impact of your work.
Flat hierarchies, open communication, and regular 360° feedback enable fast decisions and support your professional and personal development.
Work out across Germany in over 7,200 studios with our subsidized Wellpass membership.
Flexible working hours, a modern office, and—depending on the role—the option to work from home.
Regular team events—from relaxed beer & pizza nights on the rooftop terrace to shared experiences on ski trips or at Oktoberfest.
