As the Senior Manager, Software Development at Spectrum, Advanced Advertising, you will guide talented professionals in building both customer-facing and back-office software, ensuring quality and consistency throughout the development process. You will be part of the Platform Software Team in Video Delivery Engineering, developing advertising software platforms, including dynamic ad Insertion, support for sport blackouts and subscriber audience targeting. How You'll Make an Impact
  • Manage development team that operates cross-functionally with product, operations, and testing teams to ensure quality and timely code delivery
  • Develop a collaborative team culture, working with the Senior Scrum Master to establish, document and enforce agile software development practices for the entire advertising team, incorporating higher-level Video organization and Charter corporate standards, as required
  • Regularly review development practices and adjust for continuous improvement
  • Responsible for recommending, evaluating, approving of development tools on behalf of the team, and make budget recommendations for new purchases when justified
  • Coordinate and recommend training opportunities for the team
  • Mentor software engineers to make sure that they are sufficiently challenged and sufficiently utilized across the various advertising projects, by working together to establish goals and development plans, with recurring assessment.
  • Provide team support and direction on shifting priorities for new and existing projects as well as enterprise initiatives; organize and delegate work
  • Implement software proposals and estimate scope of work
  • Plan and align resources to partner closely with cross functional teams on resource allocation, budget implications and timeline considerations
  • Serve as escalation point for internal partners to resolve roadblocks and mitigate risks to ensure successful on-time software product delivery
  • Ensure adequate documentation is created
  • Provide input to management regarding technical issues, strategic planning of projects, system operations, and new software development and deployment
  • Point person for security-related initiatives for advertising projects and systems, including assignment of authorization and admin roles for various systems, ensuring security initiatives and prescribed tools (Veracode, Qualys, etc.) are correctly deployed, configured, and leveraged across the whole VDE advertising team (e.g. systems
  • Manage advertising lab equipment and make sure it is continuously available and compliant with Charter policies
  • Responsible for monitoring significant AWS costs through a lens of development impact, making recommendations, setting development goals, as needed to help constrain and reduce costs
  • Develop a collaborative culture that embodies both industry best practices and Spectrum values
  • Experiment with new technologies to ensure scalability for the future

What You'll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience

Experience
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience

Skills
  • Knowledge of Spectrum products and services
  • Attention to detail and quality with effective problem solving and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of automation, testing, and code quality
  • Experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure

Preferred Qualifications
  • Agile software development experience including leading Agile teams, familiarity with Agile ceremonies.
  • Experience with cloud development, preferably AWS
  • Previous data analytics software experience
  • Knowledge of Advertising Software technologies, architectures and standards.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
  • Understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD), and an automated testing mindset
  • Strong familiarity with software architecture patterns and their application
  • Previous development experience with modern programming languages, i.e. Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python
  • Previous experience managing onshore and offshore contractor resources

The base pay for this position generally is between
$110,660.00 and $196,460.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
