Description and Requirements
Position Summary
- The team member will be responsible for review of quarterly and annual reports, on STAT & GAAP basis, Schedule B Mortgages Blue Book, Variance reconciliation, and annual statutory financial statements. This team member will also be involved in review of EV reporting and Mortgage Survey. This team member participates in special projects related to process improvements, process flow and system issues to prevent risk of inaccurate reporting.
Job Responsibilities
- Review monthly, quarterly, & annual reporting for Real Estate and Mortgages asset class. Reporting includes monthly, quarterly and annual management reports for STAT and GAAP basis.
- Review Mortgage Survey for AM Best, Moody and Fitch Survey for quarterly & annual reporting.
- Review MD&A Footnote for Real Estate and Real Estate Joint venture & Mortgage Loans.
- Prepare/Review various other reports which are submitted to NAIC regulatory authority.
- Schedule B - Should have experience in reconciling variances at loans level between different sources of book-keeping.
- Expertise skill set in Alteryx, able to resolve the issue and identify opportunities and create an Alteryx workflow
- Partner with D&T, Internal Audit and SOX to achieve signoff on quarterly and annual STAT financial statements and disclosures.
- Prepare/Review financial statements for standalone investment companies.
- Plan workflow for all deliverables in advance of quarter end.
- Gather information to anticipate and understand investment trends and transactions.
- Complete special requests and ad-hoc reports as requested.
- Knowledge and understanding of XBRL
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education
- CA, CPA
Experience
- 8 years of experience in Finance/Accounting/Investments background.
Knowledge and skills (general and technical)
- Experienced qualified accountant
- IFRS and USGAAP accounting standards knowledge
- Experience of large-scale projects or implementations
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Confident in liaising with stakeholders from different departments and geographical locations.
- Strong regulatory reporting/ financial reporting experience
- Strong MS Office experience including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Good team player with ability to work on own initiative as well as part of the team.
