General Description:

The Senior Manager of Knowledge Management will support the Director of Knowledge Management with developing, implementing and publicizing the firm's Knowledge Management strategy. The Senior Manager of Knowledge Management will also lead and supervise members of the Practice Acceleration Team and be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of Knowledge projects and activities. Responsibilities will include, for each relevant project, providing high-level strategic leadership and oversight, while ensuring that requirements analysis, planning, and implementation are conducted in an efficient manner, overseeing coordination with Practices and other relevant support personnel, securing and interfacing with both technical and non-technical resources as required and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan and budget.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Works with the Director of Knowledge Management to develop and communicate the firm's Knowledge strategy.
  • Coordinates with individual Practice leaders to develop and guide the implementation of Practice-specific knowledge plans.
  • Oversees members of the Practice Acceleration Team.
  • Identify opportunities and lead initiatives to leverage AI/GenAI within the firm's Practice groups.
  • Leads firmwide projects such as the creation and maintenance of a knowledge bank and improving and standardizing the firm's production, distribution and storage of transactional closing document sets.
  • Ensures that relevant Practice-specific resources are available on the practice pages on the firm's intranet.
  • Assists with or lead other Knowledge & Innovation projects as the need arises, with potential focus on standard forms, filed litigation documents, matter profiling, current awareness, process mapping, search, external legal practice resources, local counsel referrals, document automation, legal technologies, and other tools and resources.
  • Plays a key role in developing and overseeing Knowledge policies and governance principles throughout Knowledge resources and systems.
  • Works with the Director of Knowledge Management and other members of the Knowledge & Innovation team to develop and implement an internal communication and Knowledge training program to ensure that the firm's lawyers and management are aware of available and planned Knowledge resources and projects.
  • Drafts training materials, policy documents, strategy statements, presentations, and other key documentation and materials
  • Coordinates, creates and maintains language to be used by the Marketing and Pricing teams for inclusion in RFPs.
  • Coordinates the preparation of quarterly Knowledge status reports to the Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer
  • Attends external training and conferences to keep up to date with relevant developments relating to legal Knowledge Management and technology.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.
  • Special project and duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic projects at an enterprise level, required.
  • Strong drafting and research skills, required.
  • Understanding of learning processes and different methods of training, required

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of Law, Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Accounting, or Management Information Systems, required.
  • Minimum of seven years of related experience, required.

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • JD (preferred)
  • Prior experience leading strategic Knowledge-related projects in a large law firm or corporate/financial institution legal department, preferred.
  • Familiarity and comfort with technology tools of the types typically used in law firms, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage

This position may be filled in the District of Columbia or New York. In accordance with the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Law, New York State Pay Transparency Law, and New York City Human Rights Law, the pay range for this position in the District of Columbia is $151,100 - $226,700/yr, New York State is $131,400 - $236,600/yr and in New York City is $157,800 - $236,600/yr. These ranges are specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.
