The Financial Partnerships team at Airwallex is dedicated to building and managing strategic relationships with key financial institutions and partners worldwide. We work to expand Airwallex’s network, enhance our product offerings, and drive mutual growth. As the Senior Manager, Financial Partnerships, you will be responsible for building, evaluating and managing Airwallex’s key financial partnerships with the goal to deepen Airwallex’s product capabilities in the region, as well as enable Airwallex to launch in new markets.
You will support the Financial Partnerships team in scoping, establishing, negotiating, implementing, and operationalising complex partnership engagements.
This role will be the bridge between financial partners and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and outcomes for the company.
A partnerships expert with experience in the payments industry, preferably having managed partnerships with Financial Institutions including banks, schemes, payment methods, as well as other fintechs in the ecosystem. 
You have experience working in both big organizations as well as fast-growing startups, and hence have the knowledge and experience in putting in place processes and structure, while remaining flexible and creative in ensuring they are effective and relevant for the business. You are resourceful, action-oriented, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
We’re after someone who can thrive under pressure and enjoys managing multiple stakeholders to drive towards a desired outcome.

This role is based in Japan.

• Lead, develop, and implement a banking partnerships strategy for Japan that supports our vision for Airwallex’s global collections and payouts network

• Manage our most strategic partnership opportunities, both existing and new, and act as the main point of contact between Airwallex and our partners

• Conduct market research to understand the competitive landscape to ensure that Airwallex maintains its position as a payment leader

• Identify and evaluate opportunities to integrate with local banking partners, acquirers, and payment methods as Airwallex expands to new geographies

• Coordinate due diligence processes with prospective partners and project manage onboarding with new partners

• Develop yourself as an industry thought leader

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

• At least 8 years of experience in a similar role in fintech / technology or top-tier management strategy/management consulting

• Experience in commercial negotiation and partnership sourcing and management 

• Excellent written, verbal and in-person communication skills

• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities

• Enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and thrives under pressure
