Job Overview

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team, that will report to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for overseeing various accounting functions. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, performing financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
This is a hybrid role working two days per week out of the Nashua, NH office. 

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP).
  • General Ledger Management: Review general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data. Perform timely month-end, quarter end and year-end closing activities, review account reconciliations and prepare P&L fluxes, and other KPIs. The company strives for a hard 5 day close each reporting period, taking a balance sheet review approach.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Conduct periodic audits and reviews to identify control weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
  • Sales Tax Compliance: Prepare and review sales tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely filing in accordance with applicable deadlines. Conduct regular sales tax audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve any discrepancies. Stay updated on changes in sales tax laws and regulations and provide guidance to internal teams on the impact of such changes.
  • Financial Systems and Processes: Participate in the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of financial systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Identify opportunities for automation and streamline workflows.
  • External Stakeholder Relations: Collaborate with auditors, tax authorities, and other external parties to provide necessary financial information and support during audits or regulatory inspections.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated on accounting regulations, pronouncements, and industry best practices. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Financial Projects: Participate in special projects, such as cross-departmental projects and analyses, process improvements, or system implementations, as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a senior role.
  • Experience in a SaaS business and demonstrated experience with LLC/PE backed organizational structure.
  • Internal and external audit experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (Intacct, Adaptive, Bill, etc.) and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
