Overview

Microsoft’s Windows Strategy and Planning Finance Team is looking for a Senior Finance Manager with solid analytical and communication skills, business acumen and thought leadership to join the team working to drive long term strategy and success for Windows and Surface. You will have the opportunity to engage directly with the engineering teams building Windows and Surface and shape product roadmaps, go-to-market plans, and monetization strategies. 

This cross functional role will partner with the Windows and Surface teams in engineering, finance, marketing, and business planning to evaluate product initiatives, create frameworks to drive growth, and bring alignment across all the various teams. You will use data, product insight, and business acumen to help shape Windows features and Surface devices. 

The Senior Finance Manager role sits on the Windows Strategy and Planning team which owns Windows Post Sale Monetization (PSM), Ecosystem Health, Surface Pricing, and Long-Range Planning (LRP). Our goal is to increase Microsoft’s service attach (including Game Pass, Microsoft 365, Search, Ads, News, and Commercial services) across the ecosystem, shape the Windows and Surface devices portfolios, and deliver exciting and meaningful customer experiences across the Windows platform.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Windows Data on deriving insights into Windows Ecosystem 

  • Long Range Planning, partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Business Planning to ensure alignment on product roadmaps, pricing actions, and financial assumptions.   

  • Evaluate initiative performance relative to expectations and communicate gaps and opportunities to product teams  

  • Consolidate metric and financial reporting for monthly business reviews with engineering leadership 

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, tools, and reporting to increase accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • This role follows a hybrid work model and is based in Redmond, Washington. Employees are expected to work on-site in Redmond on a regular, recurring basis in alignment with business and team needs.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.

  • 1+ year experience working in a matrix-based organization.
  • 1+ year experience in the technology or software industry.
