About the Role

As a CAAS Senior Associate, you will be responsible for managing client engagements, reviewing accounting work, mentoring Associates, coordinating workflows, and delivering high-quality financial reporting services for U.S.-based clients. You will serve as the primary accounting lead for smaller engagements and support Supervisors and Managers on larger, more complex engagements. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, leadership capability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records for assigned clients.
  • Process Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll, bank, credit card, and general ledger transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Independently manage small-to-mid-sized client engagements and serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients.
  • Coordinate recurring accounting deliverables, monitor deadlines, and support timely completion of client work while assisting Managers and Supervisors on complex engagements.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and prepare balance sheet schedules, workpapers, financial statements, and client-ready financial reporting packages.
  • Review and approve journal entries, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, payroll entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Prepare complex accounting entries and maintain tax- and audit-ready documentation.
  • Review work completed by Associates, provide technical guidance and coaching, resolve review comments, identify accounting issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Train and mentor Associates, assist in onboarding new staff, provide ongoing technical and process guidance, support knowledge-sharing initiatives, and monitor team workloads while communicating resource needs.
  • Support software implementations, chart of accounts design, accounting process improvements, and system migrations.
  • Lead accounting cleanup engagements, improve client accounting workflows, create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), identify automation opportunities, and support the implementation of emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with India and U.S. teams to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality client deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification: One of the following:
  1. Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or U.S. Certified Management Accountant (CMA); or
  2. MBA/master’s degree in accounting or finance with 3+ years of experience in account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end closure processes; or
  3. Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CA Inter and 5+ years of experience in U.S. or U.K. bookkeeping and accounting operations.
  • Experience: Relevant experience managing accounting engagements, reviewing accounting work, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Mandatory Skills:
  1. Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, revenue recognition, financial statement presentation, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  2. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage Intacct, Xero, and Bill.com.
  3. Exposure to Keeper and Certinia is preferred.
  4. Strong leadership, client communication, problem-solving, collaboration, accountability, conflict resolution, and mentoring skills.
