General Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns in accordance with local tax regulations and deadlines.
- Prepare and submit intrastat reports
- Ensure compliance with VAT laws, directives, and regulatory requirements.
- Calculate VAT liabilities and ensure correct posting in accounting systems.
- Perform regular reconciliations of VAT accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Review financial transactions to ensure correct VAT treatment (domestic, intra-community, import/export).
- Verify VAT codes and tax determination in ERP/accounting systems.
- Support implementation of new VAT rules and compliance procedures.
- Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external VAT audits.
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identify and implement improvements in VAT processes and controls.
- Participate in automation or system enhancement initiatives related to tax.
- Support other departments (Finance, Procurement, Sales) with VAT-related queries.
- Manage VAT registrations, deregistration, and changes across jurisdictions if applicable.
- Maintain proper VAT documentation and ensure audit trail is complete and compliant.
Job Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Specialized training in indirect tax / VAT is an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting
- Experience handling VAT reporting
- Experience working in a multinational company is preferred
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of EU VAT Directive and local VAT regulations
- Experience with VAT reporting processes, including:
- VAT returns
- EC Sales Lists (ESL)
- Intrastat reporting
- Familiarity with cross-border transactions, import/export VAT, and reverse charge mechanisms
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)

Gross Annual Salary Range:
24,951.00 EUR - 34,307.90 EURThe salary range is published in line with the EU Pay Transparency Directive and relevant country legislation.
