Job Title:

Senior Engineer, Equipment Engineering

Job Description:

The Role:

  • Entegris has invested in a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Taiwan. We are seeking a Principal/Lead Equipment Engineer (individual contributor) to lead the design, build, installation, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of custom filter assembly, bonding, and cleaning equipment, including part presentation, cleaning/prep, dispense/mix, joining/bonding, fixturing, curing, inline inspection/leak verification, and material handling within assembly cells.
  • In this high-visibility role, you will lead through influence, partnering with Operations, NPI, Process Engineering, Maintenance/Reliability, Facilities/EHS, Quality, Automation/Controls, and Procurement to deliver safe, capable equipment that meets quality, cost, and schedule targets in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.

In this role you will:

  • Lead technical execution of custom filter assembly, bonding, and cleaning equipment from concept through manufacturing handoff by defining requirements and URS/specifications, selecting and managing suppliers, driving design reviews, overseeing fabrication and integration, executing FAT/SAT, and completing commissioning and qualification.
  • Benchmark assembly, bonding, and cleaning equipment and processes across sites, standardize where practical, and drive improvements that increase throughput, yield, uptime, ergonomics, and total cost of ownership.
  • Serve as the technical lead for equipment engineering workstreams—coordinating internal contributors and suppliers, mentoring junior engineers as needed, and driving timely technical decisions with clear documentation, reviews, and issue closure.
  • Lead cross‑functional capital execution from business case to production release—managing scope, risk, change control, installation readiness, and stakeholder alignment across Facilities/EHS, Procurement, R&D, Maintenance/Reliability, Automation/Controls, Quality, and Operations.
  • Apply DFM and DfMR principles to equipment designs; lead or participate in hazard and risk reviews (e.g., PHA/HAZOP); and ensure EHS, machine safety, and regulatory requirements are designed in—not added on.
  • Create and maintain robust equipment documentation (URS/specifications, layouts, P&IDs, utility matrices, acceptance criteria, validation/qualification protocols, and as‑built packages) to enable accurate supplier quoting, efficient qualification, and reliable operation.
  • Own project plans, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables; track progress with simple KPIs; escalate risks early; and communicate clear status, issues, and mitigation plans to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Partner with Maintenance/Reliability to define asset care strategies for assembly, bonding, and cleaning cells, including PM/PdM plans, critical spares, calibration, safety interlocks, and standard work for new and existing equipment.
  • Use data (OEE, downtime, MTBF/MTTR) to identify chronic losses; lead root cause investigations; and implement corrective actions and design changes that improve safety, reliability, and capacity.
  • Develop and apply equipment criticality and risk assessment methods to prioritize reliability actions and CAPEX improvements; ensure actions are owned, tracked, and closed.
  • Drive best practices for commissioning checklists, troubleshooting guides, spare parts strategy, and technician training/certification in partnership with Operations and Maintenance.
  • Continuously improve equipment lifecycle management practices, including configuration control, documentation discipline, and Management of Change (MOC), keeping records accurate and audit‑ready.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to develop standard work, work instructions, and return-to-service protocols for assembly, bonding, and cleaning cells, and support training and sustained performance.
  • Partner with Automation/Controls and Quality to integrate PLC/HMI interfaces, sensors, vision/inspection, data collection, and interlocks into assembly, bonding, and cleaning equipment, enabling robust process control and traceability.
  • Translate assembly, bonding, and cleaning cell layouts and utility requirements into installation plans, optimize tool placement, material flow, and ergonomics, and coordinate readiness with Facilities and Operations.
  • Support manufacturing ramp and NPI by troubleshooting assembly, bonding, and cleaning equipment and process issues, leading failure analysis and RCA, and driving sustained improvements in yield, quality, safety, and throughput.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required; Master’s degree preferred. Typically 8+ years of experience delivering custom manufacturing equipment, ideally in assembly, bonding/joining, cleaning, pleating, dispense, curing, or similar high-precision processes.
  • Demonstrated success leading suppliers and integrators—RFQ/technical evaluation, statement of work, design reviews, FAT/SAT, installation, and qualification—while managing scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Leads through influence: aligns cross‑functional stakeholders, drives decisions, and mentors engineers/technicians to deliver results across global sites.
  • Strong, structured problem‑solving (RCA/8D/A3) with a track record of resolving complex equipment and process issues in production environments.
  • Clear communicator with strong documentation discipline; able to translate technical details for diverse audiences and drive timely alignment.
  • Hands‑on experience designing and integrating assembly cell mechanisms (fixtures, tooling, pneumatics, motion, sensors, dispense/mix systems) and interfacing effectively with controls/automation teams; able to read/review drawings including schematics and P&IDs. CAD proficiency (e.g., SolidWorks/AutoCAD) preferred.
  • Thrives in a fast‑moving environment: prioritizes multiple concurrent builds and sustaining issues, balances urgency with risk, and keeps stakeholders aligned.
  • Safety and quality mindset: working knowledge of machine safety and risk management (LOTO, hazard assessments) and commitment to EHS and quality systems.

Your success will be measured by:

  • Deliver assembly, bonding, and cleaning equipment that enables factory startup and NPI ramp on time and within budget, with safe, stable, and capable performance at handoff and minimal post-startup disruption.
  • Establish sustainable best practices for supplier management, specifications, design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning/qualification, and as‑built documentation—improving safety, reliability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Earn strong feedback from cross‑functional partners and suppliers for your technical leadership, responsiveness, and ability to solve problems and continuously improve equipment performance.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Typically 8 or more years of experience delivering custom manufacturing equipment
  • Experience leading suppliers and integrators through RFQ, technical evaluation, statements of work, design reviews, FAT/SAT, installation, and qualification
  • Experience leading cross-functional stakeholders and mentoring engineers or technicians
  • Strong problem-solving experience using RCA, 8D, or A3 methods in production environments
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Hands-on experience designing and integrating assembly cell mechanisms, fixtures, tooling, pneumatics, motion, sensors, and dispense or mix systems
  • Ability to interface with controls and automation teams and review schematics and P&IDs
  • Working knowledge of machine safety, risk management, LOTO, and hazard assessments
  • Commitment to EHS and quality systems
  • Master's degree
  • CAD proficiency, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Experience with assembly, bonding or joining, cleaning, pleating, dispensing, curing, or similar high-precision processes
