At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.
WHOOP is hiring an Electromechanical Engineer (Manufacturing Test) to develop the electrical fixtures and systems that enable reliable, scalable testing of WHOOP products throughout product development and mass production. You will develop board-level and assembly-level test fixtures, fixture wiring, and electrical interfaces that connect WHOOP products with automated test equipment and instrumentation. Working closely with Hardware Test, Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, and Manufacturing Engineering teams and our contract manufacturing partners, you'll help deliver robust production test solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop electrical and electromechanical fixtures for manufacturing test applications, from early engineering prototypes through mass-production solutions
Develop board-level test fixtures and interfaces for PCBAs, including pogo-pin and bed-of-nails systems, test-point interfaces, interconnects, signal routing, power delivery, and integration with automated test equipment
Define requirements for fixture electronics and interface hardware, and review designs developed by internal and external partners for compatibility with product and test requirements
Design and document fixture electrical systems including wiring, harnesses, connectors, signal routing, instrumentation, and assembly-level electrical interfaces
Collaborate with Hardware Test, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering to develop reliable fixture solutions considering signal integrity, measurement quality, repeatability, robustness, serviceability, and cost
Partner with contract manufacturers throughout fixture development, including design reviews, sourcing, fabrication, assembly, qualification, and production deployment
Build, bring up, and debug electrical fixtures using schematics, instrumentation, software tools, and structured root-cause analysis; support fixture qualification and production troubleshooting
Create and maintain accurate wiring diagrams, BOMs, assembly instructions, and other production documentation through established PLM and change-control processes
Own scoped fixture-development projects or workstreams within larger product programs, communicating progress and identifying technical risks and dependencies
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline
2+ years of experience developing electrical test fixtures, automated test equipment, electronics, automation systems, or similar electromechanical hardware
Strong electrical fundamentals including circuit analysis, power distribution, grounding, signal integrity, and common analog and digital interfaces
Experience developing, integrating, or debugging board-level test solutions; experience with pogo-pin, bed-of-nails, ICT, functional test, or other PCBA test systems is preferred but not required
Experience defining fixture-electronics requirements and reviewing schematics and PCBAs for integration with test equipment and DUTs
Experience designing and debugging wiring, harnesses, connectors, and electrical interfaces for test or automation equipment
Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data-acquisition equipment
Familiarity with communication protocols such as UART, I²C, SPI, USB, or similar hardware interfaces
Understanding of basic metrology concepts including measurement accuracy, repeatability, calibration, and common sources of measurement error
Ability to navigate and review mechanical CAD and drawings for electromechanical integration; CAD design experience is a plus
Experience with manufacturing environments, engineering documentation/change control, or contract manufacturers is preferred
Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for hardware automation, bring-up, data collection, or debugging is a plus
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to travel up to 15%, both domestically and internationally
Strong commitment to leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions
