Location:
New York, NYAbout the Role
Join Condé Nast as the executive product leader setting the strategy and vision for subscriber growth and retention across our global subscriptions ecosystem. In this high-visibility revenue leadership role, you will own, optimize, and scale the end-to-end subscription experience powering Vogue, GQ, Wired, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and other iconic brands, shaping how millions of readers engage with premium content worldwide.
This role is both hands-on and highly strategic. You will set a multi-year vision and roadmap with senior leadership one day, and roll up your sleeves to debug an entitlements issue, write a PRD, or pull a SQL query the next. We are looking for a builder-operator who leads through doing, equally comfortable in an executive strategy session and a dashboard. Your technical depth, analytical mindset, and curiosity will uncover new growth opportunities and improve subscriber lifetime value at scale.
A defining responsibility of this role is orchestration across Ad Tech, Mar Tech, and Commerce. You will partner with peer product leaders to deliver a single, unified reader experience rather than disconnected monetization moments, owning the subscriptions perspective in that cross-domain conversation and shaping how the surfaces work together.
You will partner closely with senior business leadership across the subscriptions organization and lead a team of product managers driving execution across the stack.
How We Work
Our team operates by a clear set of principles, and we expect this leader to embody and amplify them:
Relentless Customer Obsession. Every decision starts and ends with our readers, subscribers, and partners.
Ownership Mindset and Accountability. Take full responsibility for outcomes and drive them to completion.
Curiosity, Initiative, and Action. Don't wait for permission. Explore, propose, and execute.
Speed and Focus. Move quickly and eliminate distractions to deliver high-impact results.
AI-Native Mindset. AI is our default operating model, not an optional add-on. We design AI-native experiences and AI-native ways of working into everything we build.
Boundaryless Collaboration. There are no fixed lanes. Reach beyond your explicit role to add value wherever it's needed.
Your Impact
Own and optimize our core subscriptions stack: paywall technology, entitlements platform, payment processing integrations, identity, and CRM tooling.
Set the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the subscriptions platform, balancing quick wins against long-term platform investments.
Lead the cross-domain orchestration agenda, aligning subscriptions with Ad Tech, Mar Tech, and Commerce roadmaps so revenue surfaces work as one system rather than competing silos.
Lead, hire, mentor, and develop a team of product managers, raising the bar on craft, speed, and AI-native execution.
Drive revenue decisions through data, targeting improvements in conversion rates, churn reduction, and subscriber engagement across premium content.
Monitor and improve the key subscriptions metrics that define the business: trial-to-paid conversion, churn rate, subscriber lifetime value (LTV), and revenue per subscriber.
Operate hands-on where it matters: writing strategy memos and PRDs, designing experiments, debugging entitlement and payment issues, optimizing conversion funnels, and shipping with your team.
Establish the operating cadence across Engineering, Editorial, Consumer Marketing, Subscriber Operations, and Data, including daily standups on critical initiatives, weekly executive insights, quarterly business reviews, and OKR setting.
Own performance dashboards and deliver weekly subscriber insights to executive stakeholders.
Serve as the executive accountable for incident response on subscription delivery issues, maintaining 99.9%+ availability for authentication and access control paths and driving long-term resilience investments.
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute growth strategy targeting sustained revenue growth through pricing, bundling, and offer mechanics.
Drive orchestration across Ad Tech, Mar Tech, and Commerce to deliver a reader-first experience, aligning identity, audience signals, paywall decisioning, lifecycle messaging, and commerce surfaces into a single coherent journey rather than disconnected systems.
Partner with Ad Tech product leadership to resolve trade-offs between advertising yield and subscription conversion, replacing zero-sum decisions with orchestrated outcomes.
Partner with Mar Tech and Lifecycle leadership to ensure subscriber data, CDP signals, and CRM execution operate as a closed loop with the subscriptions platform.
Partner with Commerce product leadership to extend reader monetization beyond subscriptions and capture cross-sell and bundling opportunities.
Own executive-level vendor and platform relationships, including Stripe, Braze, Piano, Apple, Google (in-app subscriptions), and other strategic partners, shaping commercial terms and joint roadmaps to maximize acquisition quality and reduce payment friction.
Lead subscriber growth initiatives with clear OKRs, experiment plans, and tracking against revenue targets.
Balance editorial integrity and monetization: maintain content accessibility while optimizing paywall placement and design for conversion yield.
Spearhead innovation in subscription formats such as bundles, gifting, student and loyalty tiers, and household plans, across mobile, desktop, and emerging platforms.
Represent Condé Nast externally at industry forums and in partner, press, and ecosystem conversations.
What You Bring
10+ years of hands-on product experience, including 5+ years leading product teams, with deep expertise in subscription business models, consumer revenue, and lifecycle marketing.
Proven track record building and scaling subscription businesses at meaningful scale, ideally in media, streaming, or consumer SaaS, with demonstrated improvements in acquisition, retention, and LTV.
Experience orchestrating across adjacent revenue and martech domains (advertising, marketing technology, commerce, or lifecycle), comfortable leading without authority across peer product organizations.
Builder-operator profile: senior enough to set strategy with the C-suite, hands-on enough to ship alongside the team.
Strong analytical foundation: fluent in SQL, A/B testing methodology, experimentation platforms, and data visualization tools.
Technical problem-solving skills: experience debugging entitlement and payment issues and optimizing conversion funnels end to end.
AI-native instincts: actively uses AI to accelerate product work and has shipped AI-powered consumer experiences.
Executive presence: comfortable presenting to and influencing C-suite, board members, and external partners.
Technical fluency to lead conversations on entitlements, payments, identity, CDP, and platform architecture, and to make sound build-vs-buy decisions.
Curiosity: passion for understanding subscriber behavior, testing new approaches, and continuous learning.
Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining senior product talent and building high-performing teams.
Shape the future of digital media subscriptions at one of the world's most prestigious media companies.
The expected base salary range for this position is from $230,000-270,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
