Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Director, Network Engineering leads the strategy, transformation, engineering and operations of Cargill's global network infrastructure. This role is responsible for modernizing and operating a highly diverse environment spanning data centers, cloud connectivity, corporate offices, innovation centers, manufacturing and processing plants, and agricultural locations across the globe. This position will drive the evolution of Cargill's network capabilities to enable a unified technology strategy, accelerate digital transformation, strengthen cybersecurity, improve operational resiliency, and create measurable business value. The leader will oversee architecture, engineering, service delivery, vendor partnerships, and investments that support one of the world's largest and most complex infrastructure environments. You will help define and execute the network strategy that enables cloud adoption, cybersecurity modernization, industrial connectivity, operational resiliency, AI-enabled operations, and next-generation infrastructure capabilities across every region of the world.
This role is ideal for a leader who lives and breathes infrastructure, brings deep expertise across enterprise networking technologies, and has successfully transformed networks at global scale while building high-performing engineering teams.
Key Accountabilities
- STRATEGIC PLANNING & EXECUTION: Owns and directs the development and implementation of network strategies in line with organizational goals, ensuring the network infrastructure supports business objectives.
- NETWORK DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE: Provides technical direction for designing and architecting all aspects of network systems and software defined networking, ensuring scalability, security and efficiency.
- PERFORMANCE MONITORING & OPTIMIZATION: Owns the network performance and directs continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high availability and reliability.
- SECURITY MANAGEMENT: Owns and directs the implementation and maintenance of robust network security measures to protect against threats and ensure data integrity.
- VENDOR & CONTRACT MANAGEMENT: Builds executive-level relationships with strategic technology partners and service providers. Guides technology investments, contract negotiations, and service strategies to maximize value, improve performance, and support long-term transformation objectives.
- INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION: Provides technical direction for staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends and fosters innovation and modernization within the network infrastructure.
- STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT: Nurtures strategic partnerships with key internal and external senior leadership stakeholders, understanding their needs and enabling effective communication to ensure project alignment and success.
- TEAM MANAGEMENT: Manages team members to achieve the organization's goals, by ensuring productivity, communicating performance expectations, creating goal alignment, giving and seeking feedback, providing coaching, measuring progress and holding people accountable, supporting employee development, recognizing achievement and lessons learned, and developing enabling conditions for talent to thrive in an inclusive team culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 8 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 12 years or more of relevant experience.
- Experience designing, operating, or transforming global networks supporting data centers, corporate offices, manufacturing sites, and cloud platforms.
- Proven success leading infrastructure modernization, large-scale technology transformations, or global engineering organizations.
- Experience managing strategic technology partners and multi-million-dollar technology investments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide technology decisions.
- Large global enterprise infrastructure experience.
- Industrial, manufacturing, supply chain, or operational technology networking experience.
- Experience with:
- SD-WAN
- Hybrid Cloud networking
- Infrastructure as Code
- Observability and telemetry platforms
- Zero Trust networking
- Data center modernization
- Experience leading globally distributed engineering organizations.
PREFERRED:
- 10 + years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure engineering, or technology operations
- 15+ years of experience leading large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments

The expected salary for this position is $195,000-280,000K . Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance. At Cargill we put people first.
