Renishaw is a global leader in the design and development of inspection probe technology and metrology systems. Due to organisational growth we are recruiting a Senior Optical Design / Development Engineer to join the Encoder Products Division (EPD) at our HQ in Wotton-under-Edge.
As an Optical Design / Development Engineer at Renishaw, you'll be involved in the engineering design of optical and electro-mechanical products, including laser interferometer measurement systems and precision mechanical transducers used in sub-micron dimensional measurements.
You'll be given the chance to impart your knowledge and be part of a small team of engineers, interfacing with new product and manufacturing teams where necessary.

Responsibilities
Evolving and maintaining product system designs capable of measuring to sub-micrometre resolution which include precision optical, electronic and mechanical technology.
Developing prototype testing and analysis of data to support the design.
Investigating product performance issues, providing solutions to a timescale.
Designing test systems and processes for use in manufacturing.
Working closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure best practice for manufacture and assembly.
Key Requirements
A degree in physics or an engineering subject
Knowledge or experience in design and development of optical systems and assemblies.
Possess problem solving and attention to detail skills.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Practical and theoretical approach to projects.
A valid UK driving license.
Desirable requirements
A demonstrable interest / background in optical system design.
Familiarity with MATLAB, LabVIEW, and/or Zemax.
