As a Database Engineer/Administrator you will support a mission‑critical program and is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of complex database environments. The Database Engineer ensures the integrity, security, and availability of multiple databases across on‑prem and cloud platforms, leads performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts, and drives migration and modernization initiatives to maintain resilient, high‑availability systems for the Warfighter.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain the integrity, security, availability, and performance of multiple databases, including disaster recovery, monitoring, tuning, and index/partition optimization.
- Administer Oracle and cloud‑native database technologies (AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB), including installation, configuration, OEM management, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize PL/SQL procedures, queries, schema changes, and data structures to support efficient storage, retrieval, and application performance.
- Implement and enforce database security policies, user account management, data‑at‑rest/in‑transit protections, and Oracle Label Security (OLS).
- Lead database migration efforts, including transitioning Oracle on‑prem environments to AWS RDS, and design solutions for resilience and high availability.
- Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, locking issues, and system anomalies while directing performance optimization and structural redesign efforts.
- Evaluate DBMS products, recommend solutions, and guide the adoption of emerging database tools, technologies, and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university; an additional four (4) years of DBA/DBE experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience as a DBA and/or DBE supporting programs of similar scope, complexity, and mission focus.
- Security Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with polygraph
