About you:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to join a new and expanding data team within our Chief Revenue Office. As the team lead you will split your time between complex technical challenges, people leadership and mentoring with the support from our Head of Data Excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth of Data Science and AI within Kuala Lumpur.

• You are an experienced Data Scientist with a proven track record delivering value in a commercial setting.
• You are able to support a team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and AI Engineers, using your expertise and experience to make the required decisions to move projects forward whilst maintaining alignment with company priorities.
• You enjoy people leadership, mentoring and upskilling more junior colleagues.
• You are passionate about data and the ever-evolving technology that is used to leverage it.
• You are focused on delivering high-quality solutions to given timeframes.
• You can communicate well with colleagues – both technical and non-technical.

Day-to-day, you will:

• Be doing hands-on development work, developing Data Science & AI solutions to accelerate Sales activity across the organization.
• Leading a team of data professionals, supporting them with their projects and fostering an environment of knowledge transfer and continuous learning.
• Play a key part in the coordination of project work in the team, supervising the work of others.
• Be a leading voice contributing to the overall strategy of the Sales function, in particular spotting opportunities/solutions and registering them appropriately.
• Contribute heavily to a culture of knowledge-sharing, both within the team, and in the wider organization.
• Spend time with your stakeholders, forming great relationships with them and becoming a trusted partner.

Your Knowledge and Skills will include:

• Strong data science and statistics skills.
• Strong Python skills.
• Experience developing agentic AI solutions.
• Experience working with AI tooling for development.
• Strong SQL skills for complex data extraction.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Experience with best-practice SDLC principles (source code versioning/control, code testing, code review, pull requests, code modularization, proper documentation etc).
• Experience working to a flavour of Agile and/or DevOps which is compatible with Data Science work.

Nice to have:

• Experience using PySpark on Databricks, or a similar platform.
• Experience with MLOps tooling and practices.
