Senior Data Scientist

Job Brief:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team at VentureDive. The ideal candidate will have over four years of hands-on experience in data science and machine learning, with a strong focus on time series forecasting and modeling what-if scenarios. You will work primarily with Microsoft Azure technologies, and a background in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement advanced time series forecasting models to predict trends and outcomes.
• Utilize Microsoft Azure for deploying and managing machine learning models.
• Conduct thorough data analysis/RCA to support business decisions and strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver insights.
• Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on best practices and methodologies.
• Ensure the ethical use of data in all projects and maintain high standards of data integrity.
• Work independently on complex projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
• Be able to support the business unit across multiple projects where required. 
• Able to come up with hypothesis to test models and understand requirements from a business perspective.
• Research upcoming trends and technologies to make improvements to the workings of the department.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data science.
• Deep understanding of statistics and how ML algorithms work under the hood
• Extensive experience with time series forecasting and modeling scenarios.
• Strong programming skills in Python using class and functional code
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Commitment to ethical behavior and maintaining high standards of data privacy and security.
• Ability to learn new technologies and get hands-on with large language models (LLMs), including understanding LLM architecture such as transformers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
• Hands on experience of fine-tuning open sourced and closed sourced LLMS such as Llama, OpenAI and others
• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services and tools.
