About the team
The Knowledge Platform team is at the heart of our company's data and AI strategy. We are building the foundational infrastructure that empowers the entire company to leverage data, AI, and ML into business impact. We accomplish this by creating platforms that handle the entire data and AI/ML lifecycle, simplifying the interface while providing proper safety and governance. This includes managing our data infrastructure (Databricks, Spark, Kafka, etc.), the technology to serve that data to our users (RAG, MCP, etc.), and the platform to host and govern these AI/ML models. As a data platform engineer, you'll work directly within the business scenarios of the Growth Team.
What you'll do
As a senior-level engineer, you will lead system design, drive impactful projects across the team, and provide guidance to Data Platform Engineers to support project delivery. You will focus on data infrastructure, scheduling optimization, and pipeline efficiency to achieve faster processing and significantly reduced data latency.
This role is based in Singapore.
Responsibilities:

• Focus on the data platform and data processing scenarios within Airwallex's Growth Team, specifically targeting Acquisition, Outbound, Activation, Retention, Monetization, and Revenue.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable batch and stream data pipelines for internal analytics and operational use cases.
• Build data ingestion frameworks connecting internal systems with the centralized data platform using tools like Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to define and maintain internal data engineering tools, standards, and practices.
• Contribute to automation and reliability improvements that reduce data latency and improve platform scalability.
• Assist with the integration of external (third-party) data sources and handle data quality and consistency concerns.
• Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and BI teams to translate business requirements into engineering solutions.

Who you are
We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:

• Around 5+ years of relevant experience as a data engineer.
• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/CE/CIS (or equivalent experience) with knowledge of Kotlin / Java / Scala / Python / SQL.
• Ability to work with senior/leader data platform engineers to design, build, and operate distributed systems and establish overarching data architecture.
• Possess strong working knowledge of Real-time/Batch processing systems.
• Have experience working with data at PB scale.

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of Kafka, Data Lake, Spark, Flink, DBT, Spring Boot, Hadoop, BigQuery, and Snowflake is preferred.
