They're a boutique tactical asset manager serving the independent broker-dealer and RIA market. As they continue investing in their data platform, they're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help build the foundation that powers analytics, reporting, operational insights, and future AI initiatives.
This is a highly visible role where you'll work directly with business and technology stakeholders to design and implement scalable data solutions that support growth across the organization.
Location: Onsite, 5 days a week, Bethesda-MD
Senior Data Engineer | Azure Databricks, Synapse, Snowflake, Python, SQL | Contract-to-Hire | $120K-$140K
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that integrate data from internal systems, third-party platforms, APIs, and external data providers.
- Help design and develop a centralized Azure-based data lake and analytics platform.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes using modern cloud data technologies.
- Develop trusted, business-ready datasets that support reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making.
- Design and maintain dimensional models, data marts, and curated datasets for downstream consumption.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Support Power BI dashboards, operational reporting, and ad hoc analytical needs.
- Implement data quality, monitoring, validation, and governance processes to ensure reliable and accurate data.
- Contribute to data platform architecture decisions, performance optimization, and cloud cost management.
- Document data assets, processes, and technical designs to support long-term maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related disciplines.
- Strong SQL skills and experience developing complex queries, transformations, and data models.
- Professional experience with Python and modern ETL/ELT development.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, or similar Microsoft data technologies.
- Experience building and maintaining cloud-based data lakes, warehouses, or lakehouse environments.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and data warehousing best practices.
- Experience integrating data from APIs, databases, flat files, and third-party platforms.
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to deliver reporting and analytics solutions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in financial services, asset management, wealth management, or other regulated industries.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, or modern analytics engineering practices.
- Experience supporting Power BI or other business intelligence platforms.
- Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
- Experience working with Azure cloud services and cloud-based data architecture.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience building greenfield data platforms or leading cloud migration initiatives.

The base pay range for this role is $120,000 – $140,000 per year.
