JOB OBJECTIVE:

Operate, monitor and support Encova’s IT infrastructure and Data Center environments.   Ensure the timely completion of all scheduled batch cycles and processes workload during the shift and support the workflow of computer operations.  Contribute to a positive customer support experience and build rapport and trust with business partners and application teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Identify and resolve, in a timely fashion, issues that interrupt or adversely affect the normal workflow of system processing.  Engage the appropriate support teams and/or coordinate resolution of issues and incidents according to established procedures. Work to ensure daily or nightly batch processing is completed on time and computer systems are available as scheduled. Perform daily approved changes according to defined technical standards as instructed. Control physical access to the facility and monitor the physical state of all aspects of the Data Center. Monitor application processing, networking, and all Data Center hardware and software, taking appropriate actions according to defined procedures as issues arise. Document shift activities and incidents according to defined procedures. Provide direction and guidance to less senior associcates. Conduct walkthroughs of the Data Center to verify there are no physical issues. Respond to calls and inquiries to facilitate the timely resolution of incidents and completion of requests for service. Work with vendors and third parties to troubleshoot and resolve issues as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Create Knowledge Articles to retain knowledge within the organization. Recommend improvements to departmental operations, standards, and procedures. Assist team members with the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of problems. Provide additional shift coverage as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by management or Lead Operators.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  .

  • A 2-year college degree or IT technical support certification is preferred.  Experience as a Computer Operator in an enterprise environment may be substituted for the required education.
  • 5 years paid experience as a Computer Operator in an enterprise environment is required.
  • Understanding of server and mainframe-based hardware and applications is required.
  • Understanding of technical standards, and problem and change management and escalation procedures is required.
  • Understanding of the use of ticket systems is required.  Experience with ServiceNow is a plus.
  • Understanding of workflow automation processes is required.  Experience with BMC Control-M is a plus.
  • Understanding of networks and network monitoring tools and concepts is required.  Experience with SolarWinds is a plus.
  • Understanding of one of more IT best practice methodologies such as ITIL, Agile, ITSM, Six Sigma, or Lean certifications are preferred.
  • Effective problem-solving and research skills.
  • Effective customer service skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, decision-making, and negotiation.
  • Effective verbal, phone, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly productive, patient, and dependable.
  • Quick to adapt and eager to learn.
  • Capable of working within a team environment, sharing workload and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Capable of keeping corporate and job-related information confidential.
