About the Team

The Operational Risk and Compliance Team, which sits within the Legal & Compliance team at hummgroup, administers the hummgroup risk and compliance framework and is directly responsible for risk, governance and compliance advice and assistance to internal humm Business Units.  

We are a relatively flat organisational structure, and as a member of the team you are accountable for end-to-end responsibility for your area of focus and will need to be flexible and able to take on additional and/or different accountabilities as required. 

About the Role

The Senior Compliance Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for providing practical compliance advice and support to business stakeholders across the organisation.

The role will focus on incidents management with the potential to develop into additional compliance activities when settled in. The role requires strong regulatory knowledge of the Australian Credit regulations in a retail environment, sound judgement, effective stakeholder partnering, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

The Senior Compliance Manager must demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer outcomes.

What Your Responsibilities Look Like

  • Investigate, coordinate and manage responses to compliance and privacy incidents, including being able to present in incident forums.
  • Partner with the business stakeholders at all levels and rest of the team to guide investigation and remediation activities.
  • Assist in drafting incident reports and compliance assessments of relevant incidents, relying on the legal team where required.
  • Conduct privacy and compliance reviews, thematic reviews, and investigations into compliance incidents and potential breaches.
  • Assist in the design and embedment of compliance monitoring and assurance activities.
  • Identify key compliance risks, trends, control weaknesses, and emerging regulatory issues requiring attention.
  • Maintain compliance registers, including incidents, breaches, obligations, and controls.
  • Prepare compliance reporting and management information for governance forums, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Escalate material compliance risks, incidents, and regulatory issues to the Head of Compliance as required.
  • Promote a strong compliance culture through proactive engagement with stakeholders across the organisation.

About you…

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in compliance, risk, or related discipline.
  • Experience within consumer lending, banking, fintech, or other regulated retail environments.
  • Strong understanding of Australian regulatory obligations applicable to retail consumer credit providers and financial services organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting compliance monitoring, investigations, assurance activities, and incident management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience partnering across multiple business functions.
  • Experience preparing regulatory reports, compliance reporting, and governance materials.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, investigation, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Law, Business, Commerce, Governance, Risk Management, Compliance, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Desirable

  • Professional qualifications in compliance, governance, risk, or privacy.
  • Experience working with Protecht GRC system
