Senior Manager – Business Banking Compliance (Scams Prevention Framework)

Business Banking (BB) Compliance sits within the Group Compliance Line 2 function at CommBank. The team partners with BB Line 1, support and central compliance teams to manage regulatory change and compliance risk and provide practical advice and independent oversight.

The Senior Manager – BB Compliance is the BB Compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Scams Prevention Framework (SPF) and related scams regulatory requirements. The role provides specialist expertise, interpretation and coordination, while building the SPF knowledge and capability across BB Compliance.
The role supports BB Compliance Advisors with specialist guidance. Compliance Advisors remain accountable for regulatory advice to their aligned businesses andin applying SPF obligations within their specific business, product and customer context.
Key responsibilities for this role includes:
Providing specialist compliance expertise and interpretation on the SPF, scams legislation, regulatory expectations and Group requirements.
Supporting BB Compliance Advisors to promote consistent interpretation and application of SPF across BB.
Providing regular updates on SPF regulatory developments, emerging issues and guidance through BB Compliance team meetings and other relevant forums.
Developing and delivering SPF training and capability uplift to embed knowledge and expertise across BB Compliance.
Acting as the primary BB Compliance liaison with the Group Regulatory Change and Framework team and Line 1 Regulatory Change team regarding the SPF.
Representing BB Compliance in SPF consultations, advocacy and relevant enterprise working groups.
Coordinating SPF governance, planning, prioritisation and management reporting.
Identifying and escalating emerging SPF risks, issues and themes across BB.
Providing specialist input on SPF regulatory change, implementation, incidents, issues and compliance assessments.
Sharing insights and lessons learned to promote consistency and build capability across BB Compliance.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
Demonstrated practical experience in Compliance Advisory and/or Regulatory Change within the banking and financial services industry.
Strong regulatory interpretation skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, practical guidance.
Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders to business, customer and risk objectives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and high-quality materials for senior stakeholders.
Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate complex regulatory activities, manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
Ability to provide constructive challenge and exercise sound judgement to support good customer and compliance outcomes.
Experience developing and delivering training and building capability across diverse stakeholder groups.
Strong working knowledge and practical understanding of the SPF, including applicable legislation, rules, codes and regulatory requirements, and their application within banking, or the ability to quickly develop deep subject matter expertise.
