Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a Senior Category Manager, Exotics to join our growing and fast-paced Exotics merchandising team. Location is flexible between Boston, MA or Plantation, FL.

We are looking to hire a Senior Category Manager who will roll up their sleeves, dive into the weeds and remove roadblocks to grow the Exotics categories at Chewy, including Small Pet, Wild Bird, Pet Bird, Reptile, and Aquatics. You will be a self-starter who is data driven around the P&L ownership, vendor management, keep a pulse on the analytical trends and stay focused on building. Your reputation for excellent verbal and written communication, strong negotiations and vendor manager will make you a great fit. You must be subject matter leader in merchandising, retail, sales, and/or marketing and should have some experience with one or more of the Exotics categories.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and develop the Exotics team and categories. Own the P&L, vendor relationships, weekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews.
- Establish, build, and handle strong vendor partner relationships, including ownership across all assortments, pricing, cost/rebate/terms negotiations.
- Build and implement, based on research and data insights, strategies and plans to both recruit new customers to Chewy and to develop existing customers via lifecycle management concepts.
- Find opportunities within the Exotics categories to optimize and improve product performance, including analyzing sales data, assortment gaps, and market trends to make quick, effective decisions for your business.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, marketing, supply chain, pricing, and customer service to ensure partnership as well as well-rounded planning and execution.
- Help to launch new initiatives and engagements.
What You'll Need:
- 7+ years of related Category Management or similar shown experience; Merchandising, Buying, Analyst, Product, or other. Ecommerce experience preferred.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience where measurable impact was made.
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the Exotics categories (Small Pet, Wild Bird, Pet Bird, Reptile, or Aquatics).
- Deep expertise in vendor management, merchandising, sales, marketing, and general management.
- Validated excellent business judgment with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills, with focus on execution.
- The ability to use both formal and informal influencing skills across cross functional teams.
- Ability to lead, be forward-thinking, prioritize, and run multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and strong knowledge of retail math. SQL a plus.
Hub Location & Work Arrangement:
- Hubs: Boston, MA or Plantation, FL
- Hybrid Model: 3+ days in hub location per week

The base salary range for this role is $129,500 - $207,000.00.
- The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
