The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer transforms complex Pharmacy and Medicaid data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions and operational excellence. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about data, naturally curious, and constantly seeking to understand not just what is happening, but why it is happening and how it can be improved.

You will work with Pharmacy and Medicaid Data, operational metrics and our performance data, you will identify trends, uncover opportunities, and challenge conventional thinking to improve processes and outcomes. The ideal candidate has a hunger for knowledge, excels at solving complex problems, and enjoys asking questions that lead to innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large and complex datasets related to pharmacy, Medicaid and Medicare operations, member experience, and business performance.

  • Transform raw operational data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Investigate trends, patterns, anomalies, and root causes to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that provide meaningful insights to business leaders and stakeholders.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and recommend data-driven solutions.

  • Challenge existing assumptions and processes by asking:

    • Why do we do things this way?

    • What is driving these results?

    • What opportunities are we missing?

    • How can we improve outcomes?

  • Apply creative and "outside-the-box" thinking to solve complex business and operational problems.

  • Leverage internal and external data sources to uncover insights that improve pharmacy operations and customer experiences.

  • Influence departmental strategy through data-driven recommendations and innovative analytical approaches.

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across reporting and analytical solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 or more years of technical experience in data analysis

  • Advanced technical application skills in SQL, PL SQL, TOAD, Databricks and/or other data systems

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations

  • Experience analyzing data to solve different business problems and create data visualizations that inform strategic direction

  • Proficiency in understanding Healthcare and/or Pharmacy related data

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

  • Expertise presenting complex concepts to senior leadership

  • Diverse experience, including understanding of membership, pharmacy claims and other data sources

Work at Home/Remote Requirements

To ensure Hybrid Office/Home associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Hybrid Office/Home associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone and computer equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$89,000 - $121,400 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
