We’re looking for a Senior Automation Engineer who’s as comfortable coding as they are configuring PLCs. You’ll help build the backbone of our products, not just field automation. This is a unique chance to join a team embracing modularization of our products and moving from basic control to full CI/CD and DevOps practices.
About the job
In this role as a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be an important part of our Automation Solutions team within the Smart Separator Systems department. You will work closely with colleagues across business areas and separator applications
This is a hands-on, senior engineering role where you will design, program, and develop automation systems for industrial processes, often in complex and demanding environments.
You will contribute to standardizing our software structures across applications, supporting innovation and future-ready solutions. You will also play an active role in knowledge-sharing and coaching less experienced colleagues, helping the whole team grow.
Key responsibilities will include:
Develop and program control systems for automated industrial processes.
Work with Siemens and B&R platforms (including C programming on B&R) to deliver robust, maintainable code.
Collaborate with high-level DevOps and IoT/cloud experts to bridge the gap between traditional automation and modern software engineering.
Champion modern development practices: Help drive adoption of Git, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
Mentor and support colleagues from diverse backgrounds (from electricians to software engineers), fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Contribute to standardization of automation + software structures and participate in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. Support standardization of automation structures across applications and projects.
Collaborate closely in a flat, international team environment where knowledge-sharing is key among automation, mechanical, software and automation.
Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement, exploring new tools, trends, and future solutions.
Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for customer issues, both remotely and onsite when needed.
Add value in related areas such as Cybersecurity and Connected Services where possible.
Who you are
You are a collaborative and driven automation engineer who enjoys both the technical depth of programming and the broader view of system architecture. You are comfortable working in an open, team-oriented environment, where ideas are valued regardless of seniority. You enjoy solving problems creatively and have the confidence to guide projects forward while staying hands-on with the work.
What you know
Solid experience in automation engineering for industrial processes (preferably process industry or similar).
Proficiency with PLC programming in both B&R and Siemens. Solid automation experience: Proven track record with Siemens and B&R. Strong coding skills: Proficiency in C (especially for B&R), and a willingness to embrace modern software tools and workflows.
Experience with version control/revision management (Git).
Growth mindset: Eager to learn and help implement CI/CD, even if you haven’t done it before.
Collaborative spirit: Comfortable working in a diverse team, sharing knowledge, and supporting change.
Bonus: Experience with Model-Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink), industrial cybersecurity, or IoT/cloud integration.
Familiarity with control systems like Siemens S7, B&R, or Allen Bradley.
Awareness of Cybersecurity in industrial automation (a plus).
Relevant degree in Automation, Software, Embedded or equivalent.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken (team language).
