Based in Oxford, you will be a senior member of the GB & Ireland advisory team at Aurora, helping our clients make better strategic and investment decisions by delivering cutting-edge insights across the energy transition.
You will manage junior colleagues to deliver outstanding analysis for clients, supporting all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, synthesising conclusions into recommendations, and presenting to key decision-makers in the industry. You will develop data-based strategic insights into the energy transition for both public and private sector clients.

Over time, you will grow into an industry expert under the guidance of senior colleagues with deep experience addressing major strategic issues in the energy transition.
The position suits an experienced analyst or associate from a top-tier strategic or economic consultancy, energy company, financial services company, or knowledge-focused firm or institution. The successful candidate will combine technical ability with a strong track record of leadership and dependable performance in team-oriented environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading delivery of bespoke advisory projects for our clients, across a diverse range of energy transition technologies, business models and strategies
  • Ensuring strong project management, rigorous standards of analysis and clear communication of insights based on applying Aurora’s suite of energy market models to client needs
  • Line managing and coaching junior analysts — both as their day-to-day manager on projects and in their longer-term development
  • Acting as a day-to-day point of contact for clients, managing expectations on scope and timelines and building relationships that lead to repeat work
  • Supporting business development work, for example by drafting proposals and joining scoping calls with clients

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required attributes:
  • At least three years of experience at a major consultancy, energy company, financial services company, or other knowledge-focused firm or institution
  • First-class or high second-class university degree
  • Demonstrated success in taking responsibility for project and process management in team-oriented environments
  • Proven ability to interpret and derive insight from complex quantitative data and information
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and co-operate effectively with both technically and non-technically minded people
  • Self-starting, entrepreneurial mind-set, and desire to grow the business
Desirable attributes:
  • Previous experience working on energy-related projects or policy – particularly in a GB/European context
  • Leadership, management or mentoring experience demonstrated by previous roles of professional responsibility or extracurricular activities
  • Demonstrated success in working together with clients
  • Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel)
  • Strong academic record, such as a Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline
