We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer to provide technical support and application expertise for high-performance servo drive products used in demanding motion control applications. Our servo drives are sold as components and integrated by OEM customers with servo motors, feedback devices, and motion controllers in industries including robotics, laboratory automation, aerospace, defense, and military systems.
This role serves as a key technical liaison between customers, sales, engineering, and product management. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of motion control systems and a strong ability to support customers through system integration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-level pre-sales and post-sales technical support for servo drive solutions
- Assist customers with system design, integration, commissioning, tuning, and troubleshooting
- Analyze motion control applications involving motors, encoders, controllers, and mechanical systems
- Support customers through development, prototyping, and production deployment phases
- Create and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and training materials
- Provide technical training to customers, partners, and internal teams
- Collaborate with engineering to communicate customer feedback and drive product improvements
- Support product evaluations, proof-of-concept initiatives, and competitive analysis
- Partner with sales on technical presentations, demonstrations, and customer engagements
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and customer visits as a subject matter expert
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in motion control, servo systems, robotics, or industrial automation
- Strong understanding of servo drive operation, motor control theory, and closed-loop systems
- Experience integrating servo drives with motors, encoders, and motion controllers
- Working knowledge of servo tuning and system dynamics
- Excellent analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills
- Ability to travel periodically to support customer and industry events
- Experience in robotics, laboratory automation, medical devices, aerospace, or defense applications
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, CANopen, Ethernet, RS232)
- Familiarity with functional safety standards in industrial automation
- Experience with motion control software, scripting, or programming
- Understanding of precision motion systems, machine design, and performance optimization
- Background supporting OEMs, system integrators, or machine builders
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic capability
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
