Job Description:
This Taipei-based role will be part of Microchip’s Security Computer Group (SCG) Applications Engineering team and will work closely with the team in Hauppauge, New York. The engineer will support microprocessor-based products used in tablets, desktops, notebooks, and embedded systems. In this role, you will contribute to all phases of applications development and deployment, including understanding product functions from design specifications, developing software and/or hardware to evaluate device functionality, and supporting customers in deploying product features. You will work closely with architects, designers, validation engineers, and customer-facing teams including marketing, sales, and FAEs.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop low-level MCU firmware modules, real-time kernel components, and host applications/utilities
- Support customers in deploying SCG products
- Prepare technical documentation such as Application Notes, Design Guides, and User Manuals
- Assist in the design and support of customer-facing evaluation boards, including schematic review, layout input, and fabrication support
- Train and support FAEs and customers
- Support sales and marketing efforts, including creating demos and proof-of-concept platforms
Requirements/Qualifications:
Candidates must have
- Proficiency in C and/or C++
- Strong understanding of embedded microprocessor design and internal architecture
- Experience in both digital and analog circuit design
- Knowledge of PC hardware architecture, I/O subsystems, address decoding, programmable peripheral ICs, and keyboard controllers
- Proficiency in developing and debugging embedded microcontroller firmware
- Strong hardware/software integration skills and practical lab experience
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment
- Self-motivated, project-oriented, and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness and ability to understand and apply industry-standard specifications such as eSPI, LPC, QSPI, I2C/SMBus, I3C, USB, MCTP, PECI, PCI, cryptographic security functions, and CAN
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS
