Job Summary & Responsibilities

Simmonds Precision is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Motion Controls business unit, which designs and manufactures custom engineered, high power density Control Actuation Systems for military and aerospace applications.  In this role you will develop Control Actuation Systems as an integral part of our systems engineering team. 


What You Will Do

  • Apply systems engineering principles to the definition, design, implementation, validation and verification of control actuation systems from concept through test and entry into service
  • Develop and document system requirements, including decomposition of customer requirements and allocation to system components
  • Perform system level performance analyses to evaluate and optimize system performance
  • Conduct trade studies to compare technical approaches and guide engineering decisions
  • Planning and execution of system validation and verification
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, embedded software, and test equipment teams to implement and verify control actuation systems
  • Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal cross-discipline stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to achieve program objectives
  • Support customer interactions by contributing technical content and insights
  • Participate in root cause determination and corrective actions related to production test and field issues

 

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with systems engineering in aerospace or similar industry
  • Successful application of analytical skills to solve complex engineering problems
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree in a related field of study
  • Experience with aerospace control actuation systems
  • Experience with system requirement definition and allocation to system components
  • Experience with system design and verification of electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of engineers in the technical completion of complex tasks
  • Experience with generating technical documentation, such as requirements documents, design documents, test plans, procedures, and technical reports
  • Experience with implementation and simulation of models and estimators in engineering computational environments such as Matlab/Simulink
  • Solid track record of achieving results
  • Outstanding cross discipline verbal and oral communication skills
  • A strong desire to work closely in a team environment to make a difference
Pay Range

$113,000 - $172,000
