Job Description
Title: Senior Accountant
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Corporate Controller
Date: 08/2024
Salary: $90,000-115,000 + bonus
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, ad hoc analysis and maintenance of the accounting records. This role involves analyzing costs, preparing excel analysis, and identifying opportunities to increase the efficiency of the accounting department as we scale up. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial decision-making by assisting with ensuring accurate financial information is available.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is subject to change.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Preparation of journal entries during monthly close.
- Responsible for certain balance sheet reconciliations at each month end.
- Assist in preparation of monthly reporting analysis.
- Assist in preparation of monthly inventory related journal entries.
- Assist with a variety of tax compliance matters.
- Preparation of documents for financial and bank audits.
- Take part in forecasting and financial standards setting process.
- Develop recommendations to optimize the company’s accounting systems and procedures.
- Ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP requirements.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in cost accounting principles and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Solid understanding of financial statements and reporting requirements.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or related field.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
