OverviewThe Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and provides a wide range of accounting support including balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, journal entries and month-end close related duties. This position also performs complex technical accounting activities and financial analyses. Although this position is generally subject to moderate direct supervision, a degree of creativity, latitude and independent problem-solving is expected.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record month-end accruals and other closing entries to ensure expenses and liabilities are accurately reflected in the appropriate accounting period.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare, review, and approve journal entries in accordance with company accounting policies and internal controls.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
- Provide excellent customer service to cross functional members of the TEC Team.
- Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate account classification.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, including reviewing their work, answering questions, and helping develop their accounting knowledge and skills.
- Manage workload and proactively communicate with Management when there are unexpected challenges.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial information and supporting schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency.
- Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation, reconciliations, and other supporting information as needed.
- Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects as assigned by management.
- Perform other accounting duties and responsibilities as needed to support the overall accounting function.
- Prepare and record monthly warranty activity, which will include collaboration with branch warranty admins.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with at least 3-5 years of experience (public/ private mix preferred)
- Excellent in-depth knowledge of US GAAP is required.
- Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial management teams
- Independent problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail while at the same time able to understand big picture/overall strategy & business impacts.
- Intermediate skill with Microsoft Excel.
