Ibotta is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our innovative team and contribute to our mission to Make Every Purchase Rewarding. This role will play a key part in driving the success of our business by owning core month-end close processes, conducting first-line reviews of staff work, leading process improvement projects, and building strong cross-functional partnerships across the business.
This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position, requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

What you will be doing:
Prepare and manage assigned monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules, ensuring accuracy and adherence to close deadlines. Areas to include cash, prepaids, accrued liabilities, cost of revenue, payroll-related accruals, and other areas as needed.
Perform monthly expense flux and variance analyses, evaluating trends and performance metrics in partnership with FP&A to support strategic decision-making.
Serve as the first-line reviewer for staff accountant entries and reconciliations, providing timely, constructive feedback and supporting team growth.
Partner with teams across FP&A, HR, IT, and Business Intelligence to lead accounting initiatives, system implementations, and workflow optimizations with minimal oversight.
Continuously evaluate standard operating procedures to reduce close-cycle times, streamline manual entries, and adopt AI-assisted accounting tools.
Support internal and external audits, ensuring robust documentation, strong internal controls, and SOX compliance across your focus areas.
Assist leadership with ad-hoc financial reporting, system upgrades, policy updates, and strategic initiatives as needed.

What we are looking for:
3-4+ years of overall general accounting experience. Public accounting (audit) experience is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred); CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Deep understanding of US GAAP.
Strong Excel skills; experience with NetSuite and FloQast is preferred.
Demonstrated capability or prior experience reviewing work, providing feedback, or mentoring team members.
Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance.
Detail-oriented self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, strong adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a track record of meeting deadlines.

Additional Details:
This position is located in Denver, CO and includes competitive pay, flexible time off, benefits package (including medical, dental, vision), Employee Stock Purchase Program, and 401k match. Denver office perks include paid parking, snacks, and occasional meals.
Base compensation range: $85,000 - $98,000. This compensation range is specific to the United States labor market and may be adjusted based on actual experience. Total compensation for this role also includes a variable component in addition to base salary.
