This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant or an individual looking to make their first move from accounting practice into industry. We welcome candidates with experience gained in a Big 4 or leading professional services environment, particularly those who have worked with insurance, reinsurance, or Lloyd's syndicate clients. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and highly visible finance team, gaining broad exposure to syndicate operations, regulatory reporting, financial controls, and strategic finance initiatives within a growing global organisation.

  • Monitor general ledger integrity and investigate unusual balances or transactions.  Maintain, and strengthen where required, controls over the general ledger account balances and transactions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise, and automate existing accounting and reporting processes.

  • Partner with Finance, IT, Data & Analytics, and other business stakeholders to evaluate and support the implementation of technology-enabled solutions, including AI and automation tools, to enhance reporting accuracy, controls, and operational efficiency.

  • Contribute to the modernisation of the finance operating model by exploring innovative approaches to data management, workflow automation, and financial analysis.

  • Engage in the audit of the syndicate and related entities including liaison with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation, analysis and explanations as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Experience gained within a Big 4 or leading accounting practice is highly desirable.

  • Previous exposure to Lloyd's syndicates, insurance, reinsurance, or other regulated financial services environments is advantageous.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Experience working with insurance, reinsurance, or Lloyd's market clients either in industry or through public accounting engagements.

  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for leveraging AI, automation, and technology to transform finance processes and reporting activities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Desire to learn, grow, and broaden expertise within syndicate accounting and the wider finance function.
