We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, compliance, and acquisition-related activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial statements, managing complex accounting transactions, and assisting with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including due diligence and post-acquisition integration.


The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, experience with consolidations, and a solid understanding of acquisition accounting under GAAP. Essential functions will include Financial Reporting, Acquisition & M&A Activities and Technical Accounting & Compliance.


Job Responsibilities

Preparation and distribution of various internal & external financial statements, maintenance of the organization's general ledger ensuring that all transactions and documentation complies with U.S. GAAP and coordinating acquisition accounting needs and tasks.

  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Responsible for the preparation and distribution of daily sales reports
  • Responsible for creating new reports, and maintaining existing financial reports and charts of accounts in the Company's financial reporting system as well as assisting in the preparation of external reporting, including audit schedules and disclosures
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and location/account hierarchies
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations to management
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial insights
  • Participate in financial due diligence for potential acquisitions
  • Assist with purchase price allocation (PPA) including valuation coordination and accounting treatment
  • Perform accounting for business combinations, including goodwill, intangible assets, and contingent considerations
  • Support integration of acquired entities, including systems, processes, and financial reporting alignment
  • Maintain acquisition-related documentation and ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, FP&A, Tax, Operations & Legal) during transaction processes
  • Research and apply accounting guidance related to complex transactions and acquisitions
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and documentation
  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and assess impact on the organization
  • Support external audits, including responding to auditor inquiries
  • Provide support with transitions between ERPs and implementation of new accounting applications
  • Manage various projects as identified or assigned by the Director of Financial Reporting
  • Other duties as assigned


Non-Essential Functions

  • Cross train on the daily duties of the Director of Financial Reporting
  • Coordinate, develop and update written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process
  • Perform continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period

Requirements

  • May be required to work weekend and overtime to ensure established deadlines are met. Expected hours per week are 40-45.
  • 3-6 + years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting and/or industry). Previous experience in developing and maintaining financial reports using Great Plains Dynamics, Solver BI360, Vena, SSRS, Smartlists, or equivalent ERP reporting software preferred.
  • Previous experience in the accounting department of a medium-to-large company, and should possess excellent knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
  • Good motivation and communication skills along with Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to solve difficult and complex problems using sound judgment
  • Experience with financial reporting and acquisition accounting is strongly preferred as well as a strong understanding of the business operations and correlation with the accounting function
  • Ability to develop creative ideas for process improvement using existing financial systems and able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial consolidation principles
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to independently identify and solve problems and able to manage multiple tasks and set priorities
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in use of Windows based computer software and the use of excel
  • Flexibility in work assignments and the ability to work under pressure, able to meet daily and monthly deadlines and manage time appropriately
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Skills Required

  • 3-6+ years progressive accounting experience (public accounting and/or industry)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or equivalent certification
