TITLE: Senior Account Manager
DUTIES: BorgWarner Emissions Systems of Michigan Inc. seeks a Senior Account Manager based out of our office at 3800 Automation Avenue, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work from the aforementioned address and from home. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned address. Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed up to 20%.
Responsibilities include: Develops (with input from cross-functional teams) and deploys comprehensive customer strategies that improve the profitability and growth. Works in conjunction with sales management to deploy comprehensive pricing strategies which are market driven, based on value provided the customer and competitive alternatives. Articulates a clear understanding of our market share, competitive position, and profitability at each assigned account. Develops and deploys the customer interface strategy (points of contact, frequency) and builds strong rapport with key decision makers, developing coaches and sponsors as necessary. Develops proactive new business opportunity (NBO) plans, tracking and recording progress toward sales objectives. Drives and leads Acquisition Plan, delivering and executing the plan. Monitors market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments and funnels relevant information to the appropriate sales management for consolidation in our market sensing process. Takes ownership of total customer satisfaction, monitoring our performance on key supplier metrics and pursuing corrective action plans as appropriate. Develops sales forecasts for use in the LRP and monitors market trends throughout the year for use in monthly forecast adjustments. Complies with contract review procedures and BW commercial policies. Provides global coordination on customer issues where required. Serves as a technical and commercial liaison between the customer and cross functional internal teams, ensuring alignment on product specifications, program timing, and commercial expectations. Assists in translating customer engineering requirements into clear internal direction for a product and commercial proposal. Provides engineering-based product recommendations and solutions to customers, leveraging technical expertise to match customer needs with appropriate offerings. Prepares and delivers technical presentations, product demonstrations, and capability overviews to customer engineering and purchasing teams. Work closely with engineering teams to develop technical proposals, feasibility assessments, and cost estimates for new business opportunities. Participates in customer RFQ processes, ensuring quotes reflect accurate technical data, design assumptions, and program requirements. Analyzes customer technology roadmaps, competitor capabilities, and industry trends to identify opportunities for product improvements or new product introductions.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a related degree; and 60 months of experience in Account Manager or relevant Sales role.
2 years experience in Engineering role;
Experience monitoring market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments;
Experience developing and implementing product sales strategies and account management methods;
Experience in contract management;
Experience in new business acquisition and development;
Account Management Experience at a Tier 1 Automotive supplier managing multiple OEM accounts.
Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed up to 20%.
