Directory Services Engineer
Job Description
The Hartford's Information Protection (THIP) organization is seeking a motivated and technically curious professional to join our Directory Services team. This role will support the engineering, administration, and maintenance of key identity and directory technologies that help secure and enable our enterprise environment.
As a Directory Services Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support platforms including Active Directory, Active Roles Server (ARS), CyberArk, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). You will gain hands-on experience with identity and access management technologies while contributing to operational support, platform maintenance, automation initiatives, and modernization efforts.

The successful candidate will build technical expertise, contribute to process improvements, and develop a broad understanding of enterprise directory services and access management technologies.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for assisting with and supporting the following activities:
1) Active Directory Administration and Support
Assist in monitoring the health and performance of Active Directory environments.
Support routine maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades, and configuration changes for domain controllers and related systems.
Troubleshoot directory service issues and escalate complex problems as needed.
Participate in operational support activities to help maintain platform stability and security.
2) Directory Services Platform Support
Support day-to-day administration of directory services technologies including Active Directory, Active Roles Server (ARS), CyberArk, and Microsoft Entra ID.
Execute assigned operational tasks and assist with project-related activities.
Work with senior engineers to resolve incidents, service requests, and platform issues.
Document procedures, configurations, and support processes.
3) Process Improvement and Automation
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation and process improvements.
Assist in developing and maintaining scripts, workflows, and support documentation.
Participate in initiatives focused on improving user experience, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

Exposure to one or more of the following technologies:

Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

Active Roles Server (ARS)
PowerShell scripting
Windows Server administration
Experience gained through internships, technical support roles, academic projects, or professional employment will be considered.
