PayPal Ads’ vision is to be the premier commerce-centric advertising platform, seamlessly connecting PayPal, Venmo, and Honey users with advertisers and merchants. We help advertisers and merchants sell more products and services effectively, enabling consumers to discover and buy what they love. Leveraging transaction data from approximately a quarter of the world’s $6 trillion in digital commerce and nearly 400 million active accounts annually, our platform empowers advertisers to engage customers through the entire marketing funnel—from awareness to purchase, loyalty, and advocacy.

We are establishing a new PayPal Ads division to drive the growth of our advertising business. With a dedicated organization responsible for our comprehensive suite of advertising products, PayPal Ads will empower merchants and brands to reach and convert our highly engaged user base across PayPal, Venmo, and Honey platforms in multiple markets, revolutionizing global commerce. We have launched an Advanced Offers Platform and a proprietary cash-back rewards program called CashPass. The Advanced Offers Platform is a powerful new digital advertising service that enables PayPal’s merchants to publish and present offers in PayPal’s App and other consumer engagement surfaces, such as transaction receipts, to targeted consumer segments across PayPal’s two-sided network.

About the role

PayPal Ads is looking for a seasoned marketing leader with a track record of establishing an advertising business in the ads industry. You will be the owner of the voice of PayPal Ads, externally and internally, within the PayPal Ads organization. You'll be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, building, and enabling ways to engage with the advertising community to get PayPal Ads on the map and make it a must-buy. You will work closely with cross-functional partners, including sales, operations, finance, product, engineering, and marketing. We seek a high-performing team leader who drives results rapidly. In this role, you have the opportunity to significantly extend PayPal’s value proposition to our three-sided network while being instrumental in developing our new advertising business for the company. 

Responsibilities:

  • Build the PayPal Ads brand and its overall positioning rooted in a deep understanding of our consumer’, advertiser’ and merchants’ needs and PayPal’s strengths

  • Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy and implement a sophisticated marketing plan to ensure the brand is optimally aligned with the strategic objectives of PayPal Ads

  • Develop compelling value propositions that drive distinct competitive advantages for PayPal Ads´s existing and new advertising products

  • Orchestrate PayPal Ads´s participation in events globally and maintain all content for presentation for trade show or career fair boards

  • Own PR/Communications strategy for PayPal Ads

  • Develop the marketing roadmap

  • Build editorial and content creation calendars for various media platforms and outlets

  • Develop and implement PayPal Ads's digital marketing strategy, including SEO and SEM to generate advertiser demand

  • Interpret and use online platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to increase brand awareness of PayPal Ads as a media property and as an attractive employer

  • Lead all aspects of internal communications to ensure all employees are updated on key PayPal Ads messages and clearly understand the vision and objectives

  • Build internal alignments and utilize relationships with internal and external business partners

  • Create and maintain an active network of marketing partnerships to enable marketing execution

  • Be a strategic thought partner to different parts of the business

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15+ years in B2B marketing at an advertising technology or media company that engages with B2B and B2C customers

  • Deep understanding of the advertiser, agencies, and advertiser branding and performance needs.

  • Network and close working relationships with advertisers, agencies, and ad technology companies, as well as deep expertise and relationships in the broader ad tech ecosystem

  • Frequent organizer of or speaker at advertising events

  • Proven track record of building and managing a marketing function for a multi-million-dollar advertising business

  • Hired and managed highly successful marketing organizations for media vendors.

  • Focus on building a brand and cultivating the WHY behind that brand, not just the what and how

  • Be customer focused (users and merchants) and be passionate about building great experiences for PayPal users all over the world

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; a natural storyteller and creative problem solver; native in both digital and physical worlds; a collaborator with a constant curiosity and a learning mentality who likes to complete the tactics as much as setting the strategy

  • Persuasive, collaborative - able to work across multiple partners and influence drive brand-right implementation. Great at building and maintaining relationships, fostering an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and trust

  • Forward-thinking and Fast - able to balance priorities and move quickly in a rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines
