We are seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP FICO Consultant with deep expertise in Vertex Integration to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our global tax and financial systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between financial accounting and automated tax compliance, ensuring seamless data flow between SAP (S/4HANA/ECC) and Vertex O Series.
You will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all US corporate tax automation, cross-border transactional tax (VAT/GST), and standard financial processes.
SAP FICO Core Delivery
Lead the architecture, configuration, and implementation of SAP FI (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting) and CO (Cost Center, Profit Center, Internal Orders).
Design and optimize financial business processes to align with industry best practices.
Manage end-to-end lifecycle deployment, including requirements gathering, blueprinting, configuration, testing, and go-live support.
Own the end-to-end integration between SAP and Vertex O Series (including the Vertex Accelerator/SIC).
Configure and maintain SAP tax configuration (tax codes, tax procedures, condition types, and access sequences).
Troubleshoot complex tax calculation discrepancies across Sales & Use Tax, Consumer Use Tax, and VAT/GST.
Partner with corporate tax teams to map business scenarios to Vertex tax rules, lookup tables, and taxpayer structures.
Collaborate with ABAP developers and technical teams to design custom enhancements, BTEs (Business Transaction Events), and BADIs where standard integration falls short.
Provide tier-3 hypercare and production support for high-priority financial and tax reporting issues.
Lead system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for financial and tax workstreams during upgrades or rollouts.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum 8–16 years of hands-on experience as an SAP FICO Consultant, with at least 2 full-lifecycle implementations.
Vertex Expertise: Minimum 3–5 years of direct experience implementing, configuring, and supporting Vertex O Series integrated with SAP.
Platform Knowledge: Strong proficiency in SAP S/4HANA (preferred) or SAP ECC 6.0.
Tax Engine Mechanics: Deep understanding of the SAP tax interface framework (RFC destinations, communication structures like TAX_INTERFACE_PREPARE).
Tax Knowledge: Solid understanding of US Sales & Use Tax laws, tax exemption certificate management, and international VAT/GST concepts.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Skills Required
- 8–16 years of hands-on SAP FICO consulting experience
- At least two full-lifecycle SAP FICO implementations
- 3–5 years of direct Vertex O Series implementation, configuration, and support experience integrated with SAP
- Strong proficiency in SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC 6.0; S/4HANA preferred
- Deep understanding of the SAP tax interface framework, including RFC destinations and TAX_INTERFACE_PREPARE
