The Wealth Management Business Development & Field Training organization supports the Firm's Financial Advisors by managing the field sales support of non-banking products and the business development functions for our branch network.

The Morgan Stanley Virtual Engagement Associate role is a unique opportunity to prepare and develop the skillset for a career in the Wealth Management division of the financial services industry. Consulting Group & Mutual Fund Sales Desk Virtual Engagement Associates will work in a centralized location to provide virtual support to Financial Advisors. They will focus primarily on generating operating leverage and faster growth through the consistent deployment of digital tools that disseminate relevant content and analyses to clients and prospects.

The Virtual Engagement Associate Program is a 2-year program that transitions into the Financial Advisor Associate (FAA) program. If preferred, there is the opportunity to move internally within the Firm if there are open roles and the employee is successful during the interview process. A transition to FAA or internally must take place at the end of the program; staying in the VEA role is not currently an option. Failure to adhere to Program requirements and/or one's inability to secure post-Program employment will result in separation from the Firm.

The Virtual Engagement Associate - Consulting Group & Mutual Fund Sales Desk will be responsible for driving and executing on reporting and analysis to the sales team and advisor field, as well as other strategic initiatives. In addition, they will manage both strategic and technical projects aimed to improve overall business practices and efficiencies.

This person will report to the team managers and leverage Morgan Stanley's state-of-the-art financial tools on behalf of experienced Financial Advisors, helping them develop their business and increase client engagement. After completing the term of their role, successful associates will earn preferential status in transitioning to a sales role for example, the three-year Financial Advisor Associate (FAA) program.

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

  • Associates will learn and implement our CRM solution in supporting sales and reporting initiatives
  • Associates will interact with advisors discussing specialized reporting requests, related client and prospect situations, and various research related needs, with the goal of delivering requested prospect and client support elements
  • Associates will support Sales Desk personnel in answering incoming calls, as well as be trained to make productive outbound sales calls
  • Associates will be tasked with gaining proficiency in various tools for the conduct of daily business as well as the eventual training of incoming associates
  • Associates may be tasked with coordinating with other departments retrieving and/or delivering information or fulfilling project needs
  • Associates will provide advice and support to Financial Advisors across various asset management investment products, including Mutual Funds, Closed End Funds, Unit Investment Trusts, 529 Plans, Money Markets and Separately Managed Accounts



Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) required upon hire; Series 7 and Series 66 (or equivalent) required within 90 days of hire
  • Must hold a bachelor's degree, 2+ years of financial services experience or related industry preferred
  • Possess exemplary communication, presentation and time-management skills
  • Stay organized, focused, and highly disciplined. Be able to keep track of simultaneous competing needs of their assigned Financial Advisors and execute on all necessary actions in a timely manner
  • Seek constructive feedback and coaching from both their Sales Desk Managers and Financial Advisors, actively using it to improve how they approach future tasks
  • Proactively analyze client relationships and make recommendations to team members and ultimately advisors on how to supplement the client experience
  • Establish, maintain and support strong working relationships with Financial Advisors and Product Team members. Demonstrate accountability and a strong work ethic to promote confidence and trust in their work
  • Be authorized to work in the U.S. without durational restrictions
  • Successfully complete background check and pre-employment assessments
